Musta got a call to be Ward's first opponent at 175. For the record I'm willing to bet all my points Rios comes in over 175 if that fight happens.

This just makes me appreciate true professionals like Floyd or Hopkins even more.
They had the discipline to stay in shape at all times and never stray too far from their fighting weight. It's what allowed them to have such long and successful careers.Comment

In his fight with Bradley, Rios didn't look good at all. His game just wasn't there. He was even slower than he already is, was a statue the whole fight and he was very soft.
Now losing 54lbs to make weight is going to totally blow any chances of competing with the high level guys in boxing. I think if Rios can totally dedicate himself and stay in shape year round and not blow up between fights then he can still be a force. Will he win championships? I doubt it but if he just give himself two to three years of year around training and staying in shape and eating right he can still make noise and make some good money along the way.
Its going to be tough for him because if he wants to be relevant its going to take a lot and I mean a lot of work on his part. Give him a couple tune up soft touch fights and then get back in the heat and see what happensComment

Rios figures what the hell else can he do in life with a brain the size of a pea, so what the hell.... let's go for it.Comment

I say this to my fighters all the time, boxing isn't a 6-8 week sport. You cannot blow up in the "off" time and think your body will preform on fight night. Reportedly Rios had to lose over 50lbs in the preparation for Bradley. That's unsafe and dangerous.
Boxing is a full time job, and sure you can take a few weeks off but if you are a world champ, you need to keep in decent shape year round.Comment

I'm 5'7 and weigh about 215 lbs. with a 34 inch waist. Everyone has a different body structure and carries their weight differently.I have a very hard time believing a 5'7 guy who happens to be a fighter reaches that stage. He's a little flubby, but you've never seen him diabeto style.
I'm 6'1 and on a bad day I might take it to 195 lbs.
I don't believe for a second a relatively small guy like that could ever weigh that much without getting round.Comment

I have never weighed more than 200lbs and I can see that it would be 100% impossible for me to get to 165, let alone 147 or 135 as he did previously.
I'm not saying it's impossible for a 5'7 guy to get to 200lbs. But he'd have to be really built or fat. Rios is neither.Comment

5 foot 7? Rios is 5 foot 9 dude lolI have a very hard time believing a 5'7 guy who happens to be a fighter reaches that stage. He's a little flubby, but you've never seen him diabeto style.

You might have some light bones, im 6 foot 1 and weigh 210 and im not even fat.
Rios is a huge dude its a known fact he has ballooned to 180s when he fought at 135.
Ricky Hatton is only 5 foot 6 but got as high as 190 at his highest weight.Comment
