He's a good fighter. But he just had a close fight with a much smaller past prime cotto. To me, all he is is a good fighter. Still waiting for his coming out, dominant performance.

He's definitely a good fighter, but I'd be surprised if he beat Golovkin. I won't completely count him out, but he'll need to be much better than he was against Cotto.

Canelo is better than a lot of people say. He isn't Chavez sr or jmm yet but he is still only 25 and hasnt hit his prime yet. I don't know if he can beat GGG at 160 but if they make it @155 (which is likely given GGG undersold ppv) then canelo has a chance.

              I wasn't that impressed.

Against the elite competition he has faced, he's just looked "OK" to me. I haven't seen any dominance or breakout performance.

He is only 25, but the scoring he's getting, against the elites he is going up against is insane.

One thing I like with Alvarez is that there's multiple ways he can win a fight.

Today was measured and at range, he showed good defense and picked some wonderful shots between exchanges. That's the kind of skillset that enables you win on the backfoot as well.

But he can also brawl, and you know if it's time to throw hands he's gonna be right there and always be dangerous. Some of his combination punching is savage.

                    EXACTLY^^^^^^^^^^ word for word!!

Nelo is legit...he's proven himself in my book...the kid can fight and I give him a REAL good shot at beating Little G at "Nelo Weight"

I'm a big fan of Canelo. I thought the fight was close and Canelo edged it by a couple rounds.

Canelo landed the best shots in all rounds but he was too inactive for large periods of time, Cotto won some rounds just by outworking him and jabbing.

Many times 'Nelo froze Cotto with well placed counters but wouldnt follow them up, he let Cotto off the hook too many times, it's clear to me he's still having stamina issues.

The right man won but the scorecards were bull****, they clearly were biased against Cotto and wanted to make an example of him for not paying his fees probably

Agree, the few times Cotto stopped bouncing around and tried to actually brawl with Canelo, he was getting trashed. I dont think there's anyone who can outbrawl Canelo south of 160 aside from GGG, Canelo's got power, chin and is simply lethal with his combinations as long as you stay in his range

                      That been said

HE HAS NO CHANCE AGAINST GGG. NONE

Unless he magically improves leaps and bounds on his footwork and stamina in the following months

Damn it, i have mixed feelings about that fight as I'm a fan of both fighters

Part of me wants to see the match so GGG can be rightfully crowned as the MW King

part of me wants Canelo to duck him, just so he doesn't end up ruined by the beast from Kazakhztan.
