Comments Thread For: Alvarez Outpoints Cotto, Claims Middleweight Crown

It wasn't the fight of the year that was promised, nor was it even the fight of the night.

In the end, however, it was enough for Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez to make history for Mexico. The 25-year old superstar became the first from his nation to capture the World (lineal) middleweight championship after outpoitning Miguel Cotto over 12 rounds Saturday evening at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, Nevada. Scorecards were a joke, fight was sold before they even fought, what a disgrace.

I had it 8-4, scorecards were too wide. Congratz to Canelo though, very good performance.

Good fight. Canelo landed the most effective punches.

Cotto was not "clearly" robbed. Canelo however, was the right winner for the good of Boxing. Bring on GGG vs Canelo.

It think Canelo has really improved.

He nullified Cotto's jab. His D is underrated. Very good win, if closer than cards
