Comments Thread For: WBC Prez Fires Back at WBA Over Cotto Comments

A few days ago, WBA President Gilberto Jesus Mendoza was very willing to state on the record that he disagreed with the way the World Boxing Council handled this week's controversial situation with Puerto Rican star Miguel Cotto.

The organization derecognized Cotto as the middleweight champion earlier this week, after both sides were unable to reach a deal on the sanctioning fee for Saturday's fight with Saul "Canelo" Alvarez at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas.

The WBA is the most disgresful organization in boxing (probably the IBO have more credibility today). Right or wrong, these people are the least qualified to criticize another agency decisions.

WOW!!! That's a lot of $$$$$ for CRUMMY Belts! GGG is the only one who seems to think their worth a damn. He's going to go BROKE just trying to keep them all...

WBC - (We Be Crooks )

        WBA - (We're Below Average )

        IBF - (Intergalactic Boxing F a g g o t s )

        WBO - (When B i t c h es Ovulate )

My point exactly? They are all part of the same bowl of hypocrisy soup. And the spoon of which we are fed is just another tool to their corruption.

We would be so much better off without these sanctioning bodies dictating what constitutes a champion and just have the best fight the best and let the fans who make up this sport decide who really is the rightful heir to the throne.

The WBC went outta their way and bent their own rules for Cotto, Mayweather, GGG & Kovalev. That's why I have no doubt they'll bend the rules for Canelo should he win. He brings in more money than GGG.

"Neither side budged on their position"

I read before that Cotto wanted to negotiate and they said no?

"They have four or five options in each division [to become a world champion]. Anyone can be a champion of the WBA because there are too many [belts]. What we are doing is to return the order to boxing. There is a lack of regulations and currently it's where everyone is does whatever they want. And this is the way to remove that anarchy and abuse of boxing."

"They have temporary, recess, regular champion, super champions. They have all kinds of options, and it is very comfortable for them see how the WBC handles things with respect and they feel threatened when what they do is discovered."
Finally someone calling the WBA circus.
