Cotto said "I want to fight for the MW Championship" WBC said "OK", Cotto said "I want a tune up before I fight my mandatory" WBC said "Ok", Cotto said "I want to fight Canelo too before I fight my mandatory" WBC said "OK" let's find a middle ground..Cotto says "I don't want to pay all that money now that I have what I want" WBC says "Wait a minute!!" and the WBC is the one in the wrong? How many times do you get to dictate to an organization before they tell you to fk off?

• you are unranked at middle weight, get a fight strictly because of your check book and get a shot the other top 9 in the division deserve
• You ask for a tune up against a guy who was just blasted out by the obvious mandatory for the belt you managed to shove out of the way for your title shot
• now you ask to defend your belt against another unranked man at MW while asking the clear cut publicly named mandatory to wait after making him wait nearly 2 years for his shot again...
• Now you want to whine and cry that it's not fair after you've earned three mega sized purses without facing any other champion of the division you whine about paying out the money you knew you absolutely had to pay

Ever heard the saying "you have to spend money in order to make money?"

Belts are that asset that you buy as an investment for your business. Yeah it costs money to keep it but it also makes money for you because it makes you more well known and more popular amongst the fans, which = more ppvs.

It also gives you liverage during negotiations and helps set up big fights against big names, fights that might otherwise have not materialised.

It's also good for promotion to sell a fight between a world champ and a mandatory or a world champ vs a world champ.

Cotto himself prides himself on being a four division world champion, so it can also serve as an intangible/sentimental reward for your accomplishments, and that goes a long way to building the character of a person.

So in essence, what you posted is pure garbage. Stop ducking reality and face it like a man/woman, accept that your fav orchestrated this whole thing in order to duck GGG, couldn't be more obvious.

We would be so much better off without these sanctioning bodies dictating what constitutes a champion and just have the best fight the best and let the fans who make up this sport decide who really is the rightful heir to the throne.

Those " fans " will state that they support the WBC today, because it is "good" for boxing.

Neither Silver or Emeritus are recognized as World Champions. Not sure about the Diamond Belt.

Currently there are 2 Diamond belt holders and they are champions from others orgs so I don't see a problem.

I mentioned that because he stated, "They (WBA) have temporary, recess, regular champion, super champions." when Suliman said it, it was if the WBA has too many champions, but they have the same thing.
