emotional? haha you must be kidding.

GGG could have exercised his mando shot but he knew Cotto/Canelo was the bigger fight and Cotto would drop for the big money. So he took the step aside but like idiots his team never secured a contract for it. They took a calculated risk and it failed.

And i not being unreasonable at all, Im just laughing at how team GGG are getting what they deserve

But dont worry GGG will get the belt and be elevated to Champion so....YAY for you.

Also if there is a law suit i think GGG team might go after him for breaking confidentiality... If WBC president couldn't comment on the step aside fee but Cotto did (i believe he did) then that's where he might get ****d legally.

It's true, Golovkin took a risk at accepting the step-aside over enforcing his mando because he knew Cotto would vacate and he'd receive nothing.

However, all the reporters like Kim, Pugmire, and Rafael have said they don't know the contract situation. Cotto & his manager have stated they need to see what the lawyers say whether they have to still pay Golovkin yet.

Diva deserves what he gets. He should have been fighting GGG this weekend. He robbed GGG of his step aside money and the WBC of their sanctioning fee.

All the commercials are advertising this fight as the WBC MW Championship of the world. Cotto has effectively caused GBP and Roc Nation to falsely advertise.

This is a chump move and he's going to get wrecked in the ring and in the courtroom. Time for karma to come full circle.

If they dont know contract situation and Cotto team lawyering up then there was none and all this is an attempt to see if they can sue for an "oral agreement".

This whole situation is such a mess.

I don't blame Cotto for telling the WBC to **** off, those sanctioning fees are extortionate.

But it's also a joke that the Middleweight champion of the World won't fight other Middleweights who are the fully fledged 160lbers. How is it fair that Golovkin, who's fought 6 times in the last 2 calendar years and is the top challenger to that throne, is denied the chance to compete for that lineal Championship on the primary reason that he's too big for Cotto?

The genesis of this entire problem is Cotto holding onto the belt in the first place. After he beat Martinez he should of dropped it and moved back to Junior Middleweight. Instead we had that pointless fight with Geale to prolong the mess we have now even further.

And this isn't including the $800K step aside money. Cotto should pay this up, I'm not a Golovkin homer but I see his point completely.

If there was none, then why is Cotto's team lawyering up? Cotto & his manager said they need to wait and see what the lawyers say and here you are sounding off. What-ev, I just want a good fight Saturday, then Lara to look good on Wednesday so he can fight GGG, and for Bute to KO DeGale on next Saturday.

Miguel Cotto repeated his disinterest in paying $300,000 in sanctioning fees to the World Boxing Council on Wednesday and questioned whether he is obligated to pay Gennady Golovkin $800,000 in a step-aside fee.

"The reason [to pay] was because he was the mandatory challenger," Cotto said. "We don’t know exactly if we have to pay. We need to check.

"Do you think it’s fair to give him $800,000 to step aside? The WBC doesn’t have a limit to that [step-aside price]. We told Mauricio we would pay $125,000, the sanction fee, for the fight because we have to pay Golovkin $800,000, and he said no."

A boxing official involved in the deal but not authorized to comment publicly on the step-aside fee said the $800,000 is due. "Cotto saying he is not fighting for the title does not relieve them of any obligation that was agreed to," the official said.

Because in an oral agreement if there are witnesses, which im guessing there are plenty, then it can be viewed as binding. the 2 parties agreed that step aside will be paid ad that has been put into action, however, the 2nd part was to be that GGG would be getting the mando shot at title after this fight and that is no longer happening cause the title is gone. So Cotto team probably just seeing what they need to pay now that the 2nd part of the agreement is no longer in place. They might need to pay it all or half or none but why say "OK we will pay when the "oral/handshake deals" have been beaten in the past.

Now this is all from my personal exp. and you are right we really dont know what is going on backstage but i see this happening.

And in all my "oral/handshake deals" i have done, and i have done quiet a few, i always follow up with an actual contract to avoid these type of situations and thats where i feel team GGG may have dropped the ball
