People said last summer golden boy was dead all they did was win promoter of the year, everyone said golden boy would lose the lawsuit with Schaefer and not get a dime. They won the lawsuit got 10s of millions in settlement. Everyone said Canelo would lose to Kirkland and Lara before that. He won both. Showtime didn't kick golden boy out Oscar left them. And if he wanted to go back to showtime they would take him in a heartbeat. But let's see which gets better TV ratings, more exposure and has a better track record of building stars Showtime or HBO? Only a fool would choose showtime. Golden Boy left to showtime because of shady deals Schaefer was making with Haymon and got banned. With Schaefer pushed out HBO welcomed Golden Boy with open arms. Canelo is making more money and getting more exposure on HBO then he did on showtime.

Golden Boy has Canelo the biggest draw in boxing outside of Mayweather and Pacquiao. Floyd retired and Pacquiao has one fight left before he retires. And they scooped up a ton of top end prospects that are all exclusively signed. They have multiple fighters who are a few fights away from breaking through and potentially becoming stars. Like Ali, Luis Ortiz, Vargas, Velez, Caballero, Jojo Diaz, Shabranksy, Orozco. And you got guys like Matthysee, Linares, Lemieux that are always in exciting fights and fans will always tune in to see fight. They got a nice mix of talent. But more important they rid themselves of the snakes. The problem they had is the top fighters they were creating were all being steered to Haymon because of Schaefer and we're not being resigned. Now the contracts are all settled and fighters locked up.Last edited by bigdunny1; 11-19-2015, 12:04 PM.

Golden Boy Not Going Anywhere
For people who think Oscar and Golden Boy Promotions are going away you are completely delusional.
Golden Boy had there best year of fights in years. Oscar and Bernard Hopkins were front and center doing a good job making fights fans want to see.
It would help his company if his guys sweep their fights on Saturday, and Vargas, and Canelo bring titles back to the Golden Boy Brand. Also Randy Caballero retain his title.
Sadam Ali is in line for a title shot with Tim Bradley (hopefully), and if Luis Ortiz beats Bryan Jennings he will probably get a title shot next.
Hopefully Canelo wins and he sets up a Big Huge fight with GGG next year.
David Lemieux and Lucas Matthyse will come back strong and remind us fans their not done yet.
Guys like Sadam Ali, Luis Ortiz, Jorge Linares, Mauricio Herrera need to become more involved in Big Time fights with Golden Boy. Maybe mend fences with Showtime and put them on their programming. Because we all know they need help getting there viewership up.
Guys like Vyacheslav Shabranskyy, Tureno Johnson, Frankie Gomez, Antonio Orozco, Jo Jo Diaz, Julian Ramirez, and Manuel Avila need to go from prospect to contenders fighting Top 10 guys in their respective divisions by the end of next year.
Look Golden Boy is going through a major rebuild but they are way ahead then what most fans thought they would be. Majority of their roster are fighters under the age of 25 and are prospects. He has major young talent on his promotion and Ring TV and Estrella will be great for them.

That's why Main Events was looking to get Kovalev and untelevised fight in Russia. That's why Bob is always talking about doing his own PPV in Dubai. That's the reason Crawford has only fought twice this year. Crawford should've fought at least 3 times this year. Sadaam Ali is Bradley's mandatory and he's only fought once this year. And he's been out there by himself promoting himself for the fight. The WBO screwed him over and Golden Boy didn't say ****! This has always been a problem and that's why we've seen Top Rank and Golden Boy jump back and forth between Showtime and HBO. And that's another reason I don't understand all the PBC hate. Haymon saw this problem and did something about it. You owe it to your fighters to get them fights. Oscar has burned bridges with Showtime so he can't go back there. Arum has gotten himself fights on TruTv, a Time-Warner owned channel. All of these promotional companies need to put pressure on Time Warner to open up more channels so they can build their younger fighters. How does HBO expect another PPV star to emerge if the younger fighters aren't getting exposure? I can see Golden Boy becoming like Main Events. A small hall promoter with one big name on HBO.
Good point

And depending on how the promotion goes with Roc Nation, you might see Jay Z and other boxing promotions use the services of Ring TV Live. Getting these guys more exposure and allowing fans to put a face to a name with these prospects helps and gets them a fan base.
I like the idea of PBC. But Al Haymon needs to make better matchups for his top end stars. PBC's ratings are constantly going down with the major networks (NBC, CBS, ESPN), and that's why he's now forced to go back to using Showtime more because he his losing a lot of investment money and some of these networks money. The boxing fans and causal fans aren't interested in seeing mismatches they want to see great competition.
Perfect example look at how HBO is constantly getting more viewership than what Showtime is. Fans identify more with the fighters and HBO is putting on better matchups.
Oscar hasn't burned bridges with Showtime and it's not a coincidence that there last time they got over a million views was when Oscar promoted the Wilder vs Stiverne fight. But I do agree he needs to mend fences with Showtime and take some of his talent over there as well.
For the sake of boxing these guys need to all get on the same page and work together. As a true fan I'm tired of boxing becoming a after thought.

I know most can't get Estrella but you can stream it online. That's why you can sometimes get to see Golden Boy cards anywhere from 2-4 times a month.

Estrella TV is worse than Ward fighting on BET. Its a spanish channel. He has a card friday on Estralla while Top Rank's card is on TruTv. My carrier doesn't even carry Estralla. I'll be watching TruTv because the matchups are better and it's easier to find.
HBO has had a good year but they've blown their load. They have one guaranteed PPV next year, Pacquiao. They have the top fighters but no one to fight. The reason GGG fought Lemieux so quickly was because after the Monroe fight people were starting to get restless with GGG and his opponents.
