Comments Thread For: Trainer: Roach Opens His Mouth Just To Hear Himself Talk

If you are boxer and your opponent has Freddie Roach in the corner, don’t expect very much praise – at least not ahead of the fight.

Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez and his team have come to learn this lesson heading into his showdown with reigning World middleweight king Miguel Cotto. The pair of boxing superstars collide this weekend at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, airing live on HBO Pay-Per-View (Saturday, 9:00 p.m. ET/6:00 p.m. PT).

Roach always predicts his guy is going to win and it seems like he's wrong more often than not.

We can all agree with that, but I dont really like Canelo team they seem incompetent to me and not know really whats up in this boxing game.

For example we can just point to the all access between Canelo and Mayweather when the scene came on where Mayweather was making fun of Canelo dumb ass for accepting the fight at a catch-weight of 152 giving up 2 pounds and then the scene cuts back to one of canelo trainer (eddie reyneso) who says something to the effect of "yeah whos the dumbass when we giving up 2 pounds (cutting from 154) but your giving up 5 pounds (hinting that they get to weigh in 5 pounds above mayweather normal 147)" when I heard that I was like wtf is you talking about their is only one advantage here and that is for Mayweather but his dumb trainer couldent see it.

So he's supposed to predict his guy is going to lose?

Freddie 'the troublemaker' Roach, master of the sneaky low blow before & after the bell. I stopped counting what his record is now when it comes to his 'predictions', but he has been wrong very consistently as of late. My guess is that he knows that Canelo is a bad match-up for Cotto, but what else is he going to say? he has to pump his fighter up and try to bring his opponent down a notch, the keyword is 'try' here, it doesn't seem like it is working.

He could be humble and say that he expects a tough fight, that it's 50-50 or a toss up. That the best man on that night will win.

But Roach doesn't know the meaning of the word humble. He constantly says his guys are going to win by knockout and then looks bad when they don't.

It's become almost as laughable as Oscar's blueprint.

                Freddie is a bell-end.

Highly unlikable personality, talks complete nonsense and his predictions are dreadful.

I don't mind trash talking, when it comes from the fighters. They earn that right because they are the ones, getting in the ring taking punches to their faces NOT the trainers or relatives standing behind urging them on.
