Not even Marquez was or is a popular as Canelo...Canelo is probably the most popular Mexican fighter since Chavez SR but he canelo hasent even beaten a elite fighter to be this popular....Was it his ginger hair/white skin?

I remember my Mexican homeboy used to tell me back in 2011 that Canelo is TELEVISA HYPE JOB....I kinda will believe it once Cotto KO'S him

Obviously he has looks, skills and youth.

He should be able to beat the smaller, more battle-scarred Cotto.

But he's a bit overrated as far as I'm concerned. No great victories yet. A lousy performance against Floyd...did he even really try to win? Nope. He wasn't willing to take any real risks in that fight (contrast Duran against Leonard.)

Canelo will remain a star even if he wins a close decision, but if he KO's Cotto, he will really soar, which I'm hoping for. I like Cotto a little more than Canelo as a boxer, but I want to see Canelo embrace his true MW status and take on GGG for a great fight.

True most Mexicans in tv shows are usually white(spanish ancestry) with color eyes....check out some novelas on Univision most are European features compared to the average Mexican meztiso(spanish+Indigenous)
