Hmm. Aren't the biggest sports stars in history black?

I'll skip mentioning football and basketball (or golf!), but just look at boxing. The top guys of all time, in no particular order, are Joe Louis, Muhammad Ali, Sugar Ray Leonard, Sugar Ray Robinson, Mike Tyson and Floyd Mayweather. Maybe add Jack Dempsey and Manny Pacquaio to the list of globally celebrated fighters, but...most are black.

I can't co-sign on this...black athletes from other sports are supported by corporate America en masse - its all about the $$, the ROI - the effin' bottom line. Andre Ward at the end of the day brings no dollars. He's an investment that brings zero return. These guys thinking small. Pac getting the deals because he was exciting and you know that when Pac was on the tube, ish was going down, same right now for GGG.

Ward rarely leaves his hometown - spends his time with spoiling tactics to win fights -- which mind you...IS PERFECTLY FINE...however don't expect conglomerates to drop boat loads of cash on you when the fans are turning off the television sets after 3 rounds.

Floyd had opportunities to have endorsements - he was doing AT&T commercials and other things...then he started beating the ish out of women; and he became too toxic.

Roy; your time is done bro - Wheaties don't want you no more

I didn't watch the whole video but I listened to the part about GGG getting treated better here than Black boxers along with his new Apple commercial. Roy Jones then talks about how he gets treated better in Russia than the Russians in their own country.

It's not a color, black or white thing so stop with the whole racism bull**** about how the white men is holding you down. It's more about what is unique and new to the country that gets special and better treatment. If you're good and EXCITING who can draw fans which can turn into $ profits, you will get positive attention and special attention that you're looking for no matter whether you're white, black, yellow, or purple.

I'm going to have to disagree big time against Roy Jones Jr. on this subject here.

It's pretty obvious GGG is so beloved because he is that DYNAMIC!!! Roy is so wrong on so many level. The most beloved fighters in history happens to be black...Jack Johnson, Ray Robinson...Ali....Jones Jr...

It should be obvious black fighters are overlooked and not getting sponsorship because you can find so many faults on most of the top fighters today that corporations are not willing to sponsor them fearing of backlashes from consumers and the public. That's why a nice guy like GGG is getting endorsements! Which i fully support.

You name some black boxers i can find some fault for not endorsing it...

Andre Ward: Y would anyone pay him, boring, inactive..

            Floyd: Women beater...backlash!!

Tim Bradley: Not exciting...his live gate speak for itself...

            Broner: Need i say more...

The only black fighter that might break it right now is Tim Crawford...

Alot of what he said was true but what he's saying about the endorsement stuff as it pertains to Ward is kinda bull****. I'm a fan of Ward but I can admit that he is one boring mfer outside the ring, and I can understand why a company like Apple might not want to do business with him. Ward could go to Russia and probably wouldn't get the love that Roy is getting because the dude just doesn't have alot of fans.

Roy Jones just as good at expressing himself as he was a fighter in his prime. It's difficult to say what Roy Jones said and not come off as negative but even anti-black people can't even hate what Roy said, it was very logical and he broke it down in a very civilized manner.
^^^^this...that's why some of the posts on here are ******....I think a fighter who was black, and the best of his generation would know about how black fighters are treated

Jones may be the GOAT and guys like DLH, Hamed, Chavez got more shine and he was better fighters than them by a country mile

the attitude dont matter at all when it comes to a black fighter, thats the wholehearted truth, the american public aint gonna like them regarless of how they act. so they see it as a opportunity to play the villain role, might as well gain those extra haters(fans)
U dont get it. Wilder is unproven and has a horrible persona, nobody wants to sponsor that. Bradley has no personality doesnt sell sht. Whos charlos, quillin? He doesnt fight or sell, whos jacobs to the world of the casual boxing fans....They're not exciting or sweet like GGG...You gotta be a good guy to be sponsored...Not even the biggest cash cow gets sponsored, look at Floyd, nobody sponsored him after his domestic abuse sht...

Broner is posting videos of himself eating out strippers and wiping his ass with money. Let's be honest here.

And if you want to suggest that a fighter's skin colour affects his general popularity, then you're probably on to something. But the idea that companies consciously discriminate in that way doesn't add up. If it spikes their sales they couldn't care less.
Precisely! Remember what skin color Tiger Woods have. Is there any lighter skinned athlete in any sport that had more endorsement deals? And how he hit the wall once it was discovered that he was cheating on his wife. Had he suddenly became darker?
