And it's highly doubtful once the belt is vacates, Canelo will wanna fight GGG until he is far removed from his prime fighting stage.
Like I said, De La Hoya only wants Canelo to follow Floyd's path, not be different.Comment

And whose fault is that??
Cotto and Canelo are choosing to fight for a MW World title. If they don't want to fight Golovkin after that, that's their choice if they think, as they constantly state, they are true Junior Middleweights but it doesn't change the fact that Cotto has a MW title and Canelo is challenging him for it!
Basically the Golovkin haters are whining about Golovkin being named the WBC world title holder because the current and future title holder, after the Cotto/Canelo fight, doesn't appear to want to defend it against Golovkin.
Too bad. Golovkin is completely willing to fight the top ranked middleweights. If they choose to reject such match ups, they are to blame and don't deserve to be considered the best.
The Golovkin haters constantly complain that Golovkin hasn't faced the top names in his division but when he calls them out and they run away with their tail between their legs they say Golovkin is getting accolades for nothing. The irony and contradictory nature of such a belief is glaringly obvious.Comment

These guys are not going to be told who they are fighting. Dictating terms to them is nothing but a waste of your time.Comment

People like you who think catchweights should be agreed upon by boxers who you don't like and would like to see handicapped are part of the problem with boxing.
Only in boxing can pro athletes augment the parameters and rules of a divisional world title match up to suit their liking. It's really a disgrace that there is more corruption than ever in boxing as far as rules, regulations, judges and other elements involved in a fight are concerned including ridiculous catchweight demands when there are more weight classes than there used to be in an attempt to even the playing field and allow boxers to fight at a more specific weight that fits their size more accurately.
What's next, a catchweight on a catchweight? 3 lbs weight divisions?
What a joke.Comment

But the sport is ***********al nowadays, with promoter-broadcaster silos, personal weight divisions, inconsistent drug testing protocols, scores of titles; these become loop holes for rich fighters and their teams to exploit to their advantage, to justify strategies that skirt match ups necessary to expand viewership through history-making fights.
I could NEVER imagine Evander Holyfield deserting a title belt because he wanted to avoid the type of punishment Rid**** Bowe was going to dish out.Comment

They'll just rematch for the vacant 154 lbs title......
only way I see the Cotto-GGG fight if Cotto vacates the belt and wants the ggg fight anyway but at a catchweight.Comment

Jedi you POS LIAR!!! EACH Boxer pays a % of ALL gross funds INCLUDiNG PPV money.
So back to the question would the WBC want the $$$$ from a cotto/canelo rematch that will get another 1 million buys or ggg/Lee/Tureno 97k ppv buys.
My money is on them letting cotto/canelo keeping the belt. Wanna bet???Comment
