Either HBO or the WBC are doing their job right, I hope its the WBC they stripped that coWARD in the past and now it looks like they're forcing either Canelo/Cotto to fight the winner or to drop the title and return to 154lbs, good on them I say!

If Alvarez wins and De La Hoya decides that he wants Alvarez to fight three voluntary opponents before fighting Golovkin, Sulaiman will approve it and announce before each fight that an internal agreement has been reached. If Cotto wins and decides to do the same thing, Sulaiman will declare Cotto the Super Champion and give Golovkin the regular WBC title based on an internal agreement.
Alvarez held the WBC belt at 154 pounds for three years without ever fighting a mandatory opponent. I guess he reached an internal agreement for all of those voluntary defenses. When Julio Chavez Jr. held the WBC 160-pound title, he avoided his mandatory opponent, Sergio Martinez, for two years. I guess he had an internal agreement. Deontay Wilder is fighting his third voluntary opponent since winning the WBC heavyweight title. He must have an internal agreement, and will likely have an internal agreement for at least one more voluntary opponent before he is forced to vacate his title after refusing to fight Povetkin.

Once the WBC announces GGG is the champ on Facebook, Twitter, and instagram we'll all know GGG is the GOAT!
I don't think the WBC is going to make them fight. Canelo's sanctioning fee is higher than GGG/Lemieux fees combined. That's a lot of money the WBC will be leaving on the table.

At least Cotto admits he's not a real MW. Conversely, on fight night, Canelo is slightly heavier than GGG. If he beats Cotto and then drops the belt, lucrative rematch or no, it would look totally lame, most def not aligned with Mexico's proud boxing heritage.
But I still think Canelo will fight GGG. He can always rematch Cotto after that, maybe September next year.

there's really not much they can do, strip the winner of its belt and call them chicken, apart from that, what? call their mom's and complain?
