It's all been said already in this thread. They are the best fighters and deliver the most knockouts. That's the argument for them.

One advantage they have always had is the fact that when you see one of them in real life, it's like wow, that's a big guy who knows how to fight as opposed to seeing a lighter weight fighter out. He may know how to fight, but he's not physically imposing. I'm not saying it's fair really, but who would you rather fight- Pacquaio or Wlad? Pac is great and would surely destroy me, but Wlad is big enough that he might just kill me. I'll go with Pac. This is the problem with all the little guys. Sometimes they put on great fights but come on. Getting hit by them is nothing like taking a heavyweight's punch- even the bad heavyweights.

When you have enough good heavyweights to make things interesting (which we don't right now) it's "better" because there's something impressive about a physically large person with great fighting skill. Someone like Rigo, for all his skill, is still the size of a teenage girl. When I watch fights with casuals and friends, they always notice when guys are smaller and I see their interest wane. Someone larger will have a sense of awe and aura about them that adds to the nature of boxing itself, being that it's physical combat.

"Weight classes" are just an artificial way to market inferior boxers.

Like I've mentioned in other threads, the other divisions are no different than the little league world series or the WNBA.
F#cking ouch lol. I never quite thought of it like that, but you kinda got a point.

I must say I used to love the HW division more than any other division up til Lewis. I guess there is some truth to the Americans lost interest cuz there were less quality American HW fighters angle, at least with me there is. I used to be on top of all the HW's from the elite to the fringe contenders to the prospects to the journeymen to the "losers" to the guys who are 3-0 or amateur hopefuls, but I've drifted super far from the depth I used to put into keeping track of HW's. I'm kinda getting excited of the era that seems on deck right now & the fights that could be coming in that new era & could start in a couple weeks best case or a couple years worse case.

I don't think there's anything that makes it better. It might be the historically most significant division because, as it has been mentioned before, you're seeing the best boxers in a h2h sense, not p4p.

Being the best heavyweight makes you the baddest man on the planet because you beat the biggest dudes there are . Meaning there are maybe 1 or 2 people on the planet who can beat you .

because #1 really means #1 boxer, that no one can beat him.
unlike say a #1 135lb p4p fighter, isnt really #1. he'd get rekt by any hw (no ****)
