  • Comments Thread For: Hunter: Canelo Has Not Faced The Best, Cotto Has Edge

Veteran trainer Virgil Hunter, who works with such fighters as Andre Ward, Amir Khan and Andre Berto, is picking WBC middleweight champion Miguel Cotto to defeat Saul "Canelo" Alvarez on November 21 at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas.

Hunter is not impressed with Canelo's level of opposition in the last few years. The two fighters have several common opponents, like Shane Mosley, Alfonso Gomez, Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Austin Trout.

So if Canelo Knocks Out Cotto and Cotto looks like "father time" caught up with him, will people knock Canelo for beating a fighter who is much older than him???

If that's the case Canelo is damned if he does and damned if he doesn't.

No fighter beats other top flight fighters in their prime all the time. It's not like they can go in a damn time machine and fight that guy in their prime.

You can go through every top fighter currently and other boxing legends who fought guys that were way pasted there prime.

Say what? Canelo has faced Mayweather and Lara. Experience won't likely be the deciding factor in the outcome.

Cotto can outbox Canelo..but does he have the discipline and endurance to do it over 12 rounds...
