Would Canelo Alvarez be #1 Pound for Pound?

If Canelo beat Cotto and Golovkin impressively, maybe the winner of Lee vs Saunders in between, would he be the #1 in the sport?

You could make a case. For me, not so quite, what are your thoughts?

Would Ali Raymi had been the greatest of all time if he would have beat Rigo, Loma, Leo Santa Cruz, went all the way up to WW beat Pacquiao, then went up to LHW and beat Kovalev then come back down to 154 to beat Canelo and Cotto?

He should be #1 if he did all that. But there are too many ifs.

If he fights GGG at all?

If Lee/Saunders would even try to make a catchweight?

Canelo seems like he has no intention of fighting at the full 160 limit.

Realistically we have a better chance of Canelo fighting Crawford, Bradley or Matthyse at 155.

He's already top 5 behind Pac, Wlad, Ward, and Kovalev.

So If golovkin beats the lee/Saunders winner for the wbo and he becomes the WBC champ due to canelo or cotto vacating, he is the P4p number 1?

Even though he wouldn't have beat a p4p fighter to get all those belts?

Sounds like he's laying the groundwork to crown GGG as number one.

Pac is not top 5 p4p and neither is Canelo.

It depends how he hypothetically beats them.

I think you would make the case for him easily being top 5 at that point if we're assuming the rest of the boxing world remained frozen in time as is now.
