Edit: sorry, just olympics, not about boxing.
I think the relevance here is that guys who spend years doping in the amateurs are highly unlikely to go clean, especially when, as Rumack said, it doesn't take much effort to cheat in pro-boxing (vs Olympics). When you rely on PEDs for even a couple of years, it becomes very hard to perform anywhere near peak without them.

Also, some here want to diminish this by saying it's just track but they're intentionally putting on the blinders. Governmental-level scandal just for track? Track was just the weak-point that got cracked.

I'm not trying to slander Russia, I actually admire Russia and it's unapologetic masculinity (something the US had not too long ago). But this scandal is HUGE and is relevant to us as fans.

All track and field is dope riddled. Russia, US, Canada etc. We are all neck deep in it.
Yeah man, it's pretty much a given all the top track and field athletes are doping, it's just a matter of catching them. And I would imagine countries like Jamaica, where it's so ****ing important to them, might cover up some stuff to protect their star athletes, if not flat out be involved in providing the drugs they need.

This is more of a lounge thread though as this has nothing to do with boxing specifically.

Yeah but that's a what if type scenario and until there is something that links boxing to this scandal it has nothing to do with boxing.

"The report alleges that Russia has a “deeply rooted culture of cheating at all levels” within Russian athletics."
"The WADA commission said the International Olympic Committee should not accept any entries from the Russian athletics federation until the body has been declared complaint with WADA's doping code and a suspension has been lifted."

Russia getting banned from the olympics has a lot to do with boxing.

It's track and field athletics, not boxing. Different federations, I'd wager the majority of track and field athletes are doping from all countries.

RusAthletics (the Russian Athletic Federation) is a separate entity from the boxing one. It's track and field athletes that would be banned not boxers. Russian track and field athletes have been obviously doping for years, its been an open secret that recent scandals are just confirming.

People obviously not reading the fact, they believe the Russian Government either knew and did nothing or knew and took part... Competitors either took the PEDs or didn't compete. To be as naive to believe it's just taking place in Track and Field and Not boxing... You would have to be down right ignorant

Again. Are you implying that the entire US boxing team from '84 was blood doped?
