Rios, who wasn't in the best shape, went down in the ninth round from a hard shot to the body and the fight was practically over from there.

Rios' comments eerily resemble Ortiz' after the Maidana fight.

I dont deserve to take these beatings.

And Rios blasted him for that

Yes I think it's time for him to retire. Brandon Rios was not in shape tonight. His conditioning suffered. He didn't train hard and it showed. He took the easy way out by simply draining and straining his kidneys to lose water weight. That's why he rehydrated back up to 170lb tonight because he didn't lose it the natural way; Thus being the reason why he was knocked out for the first and only time of his career by the the light hitting Timothy Bradley. If he doesn't rededicate himself as an athlete, then he is going to run the risk of becoming a vegetable or sustaining a permanent or serious injury. Also, if one were to add up the amount of cumulative trauma his body has absorbed in his career; In the ring and in the gym, then you know that it is time for his body to rest.

Rios says his money is well invested and I hope it is but he's always struck me as the kind of guy who'd run through his stash pretty quick. I wish him all the best from here. He was never anything special but showed a lot of heart in the ring in plenty of battles and it would be sad if Brandon ends up down the line coming back as somebody's punch bag because he needs the bread.

I am glad he retired. Rios style of fighting is not good for long term health in this sport. He made some good money and he can live a good life is he uses it wisely.

If rios got a nutritionist, stayed active and had discipline he could still fight. The long layoff and ballooning up between fights took its toll on his camp and it showed in the fight. I feel bad for the guy cuz i know what it's like to feel like your body has nothing left, but if he treated himself better he probably wouldn't feel that way.

After 8 months of doing nothing and gaining weight, can you imagine how out of shape he was when he first came back to the gym?

Is there anybody in Rios corner that actually cares about him? Because I would have vehemently warned him against taking this fight under those conditions.
