I don't think he was in the corner for the Mosely molly-whooping, though I'm not 100% on that. I was talkign about the disgraceful and horrible beating he took from Manny.
THta was the prefect storm of possible in-ring death. Pac was super fast and super snappy with his punches, but JUST didn't have enough power to force the stoppage, though he tried really hard. I would have pulled Margo in the 11th at the latest. He was a sitting duck, and though he's a scumbag, it was obvious that he was never going to KO Pac. No regard for his fighters health at all.Comment

So do you think Garcia is an awful trianer? The amount of effort you put in is a massive part of being a trainer, and Garcia's effort levels were awful. Remember him trainer Nonito for the Rigo fight by phone? Jesus lolComment

cutting weight ruins a fighter. been saying this forever. rios and mikey particularly looked like f#cking death when they were weighing in.
rios weighed 170 last night. 170. i'm sure he had clothing on, and may have even been shodden, but he's still putting on an unnatrual kind of weight.
i saw some things from rios in training that troubled me.
short video clips from training aren't alway the best way to guage where a fighter is. he may have just gotten of of a plane. he could be in the final hour of a long session, or trianing on a heavy running day when he already woke up and ran several miles.
still, in training, rios lacked snap and accuracy when he was on the mitts with robert. those guys have been working together since brandon was a kid. when he was on point the mittwork would sound like a gun going off. brandon was hitting the sides fo the mitt, and lacking the snap / accelleration through the target that used to hurt people and leave a thud when he was in his prime.
i'm glad he retired. he really didn't have much left at all, but it was impossible to say that he was done until we saw him get beat up. the alvarado fight was a gimme. that guy had less than rios. i dont' think he trained, and he's always had a rep as a partier and an outlaw.
when tim bradley is stopping a guy who once had an iron chin and strong legs and heavy hands late in a fight, it is time to retire.
thanks for the memories. rios was in some absolute wars. he made a lot of money, too. ppv against manny, perennial face on major networks. i hope he invests and spends wisely. he didn't have a ton of brain cells to lose.Comment

garcia fighters boil down to get into smaller weight classes and have advantages in power, physical dimensions, and chin. he facilitates this. lots of guys today are using this school of thought. they weigh in 30 hours or so from fight time. with the right nutrition and hydration [and probably some illegal drugs / transfusions,] it's a short term advantage.
it shortens your career, however. that much is abundantly clear.Last edited by New England; 11-08-2015, 03:56 PM.Comment

Theirs no discipline in his camps, all I see is ****ing around most of the time. Garcia needs to kick everyone out during training camps, especially that ellie dude who is a groupie asking ****** questions everyday in their gym. He's annoying as ****, don't know how Garcia lets this dude in their gym during big fights.Comment
