We've had many discussions about this. The priority for Gennady is to fight at middleweight. There is a lot more to prove at middleweight....there are a lot of champions as we just discussed. Matthew Macklin was one of the top names at middleweight but there are a lot of great names. That being said, if there is a big fight at 154 or 168, a compelling fight, that makes sense, he's willing to do that. Right now we don't think its the right time. But if there is a fight with Canelo at 154 or Mayweather at 154. Andre Ward, if that becomes a compelling fight down the road and if that makes sense. But that's only going to happen by choice, by Abel [Sanchez] and Gennady, if they move up to 168; Loeffler said.

I think a fight like that is a huge fight if it became a reality between Gennady and Andre Ward, but that's a fight that would take time to make sense. It wouldn't make sense at this particular time. I have a lot of respect for Andre Ward. He is clearly the best 168-pounder out there. With that being said, it would take time. It doesn't make sense to move up to 168 and face the top guy when [Gennady] is still making his name at 160. [Gennady] is still building his name. It's not that he's not ready. But it doesn't make sense from a promotion standpoint. Why shortchange both fighters when that could be a monster fight next year.

Where does it say the exact date? It says 2 years thats it, the rest is your wishful thinking. You want to imply GGG that GGG wasnt good enough for Ward? GGG was still a middleweight champion that already became a fan favourite and was pretty much known by real boxing fans to be a threat to anyone around his weightclass and he had multiple EXCITING HBO fights. Was Ward ever in an exciting fight?

Ward fought two times since 2012 and the names are Edwin Rodriguez and Paul Smith (at 172). How would he even be anywhere near the consideration of getting a payday vs GGG when you argue that GGG wasnt good enough to face Ward in 2013?

If you are honest to yourself you give a flying fack about Ward, your biased hatred towards GGG is just laughable. Don't even call yourself a boxing fan.

Ward is a diva. He rejected Stevenson and Bute for not proving themselves too. So it wouldn't surprise me if he gave GGG the same treatment back then.

But recently, GGG had a chance to be great but instead chose the safer, less risky route to success.

2014? It didn't make financial sense remember? Team GGG were never willing to risk their prized commodity.

Why can't you guys just let go of this? I thought you were happy with unifying 160?

Team GGG knew their place and it wasn't in the ring with Ward.
It doesnt make financial sense to commit to fighting someone who wouldnt be ready for real comp for 2 years at least, right? Especially if they come off like delusional blowhards

“There’s nobody even two weight classes above or two weight classes below that could even win a round against Andre at this point, let alone beat him, and they know that.”
          ...
“Apparently, Abel Sanchez is breathing too much of that Big Bear mountain air…Time and time again, this man keeps going on the record and saying things with a complete detachment from reality,” said Dubin, in part.

“For him to say that Andre Ward could not dictate terms in a fight between Andre Ward and Gennady Golovkin and that Gennady Golovkin is a bigger star is pure fantasy…”
Either way the GGG Froch fight was way more anticipated, shame that Froch finally lost his bottle when unproven MW hypejob came calling.

It was a joke offer man, how can you not see that? 50/50 for sometime next year, when he knows GGG's Canelo/Cotto mando is up around that time.

Everyone is still waiting for Ward to do his part, and that's make a name for himself. Instead, he's content fighting on bet tape delays trying to make money off GGGs name. Smh.

All I said was he took the safer route. I'm not criticizing him. Bradley did the same thing by resigning with Top Rank to be a big fish in a small pond and not ha e to fight the best welterweights. Fighters make business decisions and that's OK.

Don't even know where they got this GG ducking Ward doe from. It's not even rocket science. You can tell by the way Ward has been just paying lip service pretending that he wants it; taking long layoffs in between fighting bums. He didn't lift a finger to make the fight happen. Is this the picture of a guy who wants Golovkin? You can actually say the opposite is true.

There was no attempt by Team GGG to negotiate or counter. They just flat out don't want the fight.

It's fine, we get a real fight between Ward and Kovalev instead.

Team GG finally got sick of Ward's dilly dallying behaviour. Even called him a liar. The Lemieux fight would not even have happened had Ward said yes to the fight. But then it wouldn't have as Ward wanted tuneups first.
