Yeah Rodriguez was a good fighter then and from what I've seen still is now. He was difficult in negotiations with Ward though and maybe that kind of approach is why he hasn't gotten more opportunities.

That wasn't deliberate, it was in the heat-of-the-moment, and GGG was man enough to apologize.

Ward's head butts in the Kessler fight were obviously deliberate, yet in the post-fight interview he denied even doing it.

Golovkin will move up soon, when the time is right, I do not think it will take long after(IF) he becomes lineal at 160
To follow up on this, Ward has just been a complete disappointment following his great performance against Dawson, I thought he ha truly arrived and this was going to be fun ride, I thought he was going to Dominate 168, 175 and be the next P4P boxer and possible PPV attraction, HE IS TO BLAME for his not being a star with any demand power in his weight division(s)

          • Dawson was overanxious and overconfident about dropping to 168 for Ward. At the same time Ward was HBO's darling at the time, they were desperate for him to step into the Mayweather role. If the roles had been vice-versa, HBO may have stepped in and told Chad/Andre to do a catch weight?

Either way I don't give Andre much credit for that win, especially after hearing the Miranda story.

            Dawson after the Hopkins fight:
KELLERMAN: You are now once again the light heavyweight champion of the world. You've gotten rid of all the old fighters in the division but there's some new interesting young fighters here. Any interest you in particular?
DAWSON: I mean I would love a fight with Andre Ward. I mean I think that would make for a great fight.
            KELLERMAN: Super middleweight champion.
DAWSON: Super middleweight champion. I could make 168 or we could do it at 175 —a catch weight— it don't matter to me. I wanna make my statement known. I want everybody to know who I am. I wanna go after the big dogs.

            Dawson after the Ward fight:
My honest opinion is it was definitely a set up by HBO and other people, too. It was set up for me to come in at 168. I would be vulnerable and they could expose it and he would look good at the same time. That's just my opinion on the whole situation. We could've done it at a catch weight where we both would've been comfortable but they wanted it at 168.

I remember Rodriguez wanted PED testing and Ward refused.

Promoters hammered out the details within a few weeks. Ward (25-0, 13 KOs) refused to come up a weight class or even meet in the middle, both options clearly to the heavier Dawson's advantage. The fight would happen in Ward's comfort zone at 168 pounds or it wouldn't happen at all.

The nerve of Rodriguez to demand drug testing. Smh. What a difficult guy to negotiate with!

Lol , yea I did . Dawson opened his big mouth about him not minding coming to 168 to face Ward , then (before Dawson could close him mouth) Ward got out the nail and hammer and nailed his tongue down to the plywood .

But I guess that's what u were alluding to when u suggested that Dawson wasn't the sharpest knife in the draw.
