Comments Thread For: Badou Jack is Ready: Chavez Jr. is a Big Money Fight

Badou Jack's next opponent is shaping up as Julio Cesar Chavez - and a hop, skip and a jump down the road he's keen to take on IBF champion James "Chunky" DeGale.

On the last working day of the World Boxing Council's 53rd Convention, in Kunming - Jack attended the working sessions throughout, laid out his campaign of action. First priority could very well be Chavez Jr. as a voluntary defense of his WBC super middleweight title, and hopefully by 2016's end, DeGale.

He had a good year, he deserves a big payday.

Enjoy it before DeGale takes your belt.

Easy win for jack. Chavez jr. can't do **** to anyone at 168 because he can't use his size to just overpower them. Jack would box his face off.

I have a feeling chavez jr. will pick a more winnable fight doe.

            Sad But True

Damn it's sad that Badou Jack is right. Chavez Jr. is still a big money fight even though he hasn't beaten anyone of note in years.

And let's be honest if his last name wasn't Chavez he would a best be a fringe contender.

SMH.....why did Andre Ward have to be so inactive for so long? He was the king of this division....smh.....

Jack will get a nice payday here but Chavez' popularity seems a long way down from what it was. The number of people believing in his 'potential' must be down to single figures by now.

Actually if you look at attendance and tv ratings, chavez jr hasn't generated money in a very long time. The Mexican fans lost respect for him and rightfully turned their back on him. Jack and chavez may receive a lot of money but it's not because it's a significant fight...just because of chavez's deal with Haymon.

Is jr still a draw? I remember people booing his ass in his last fight. Also it was a pbc fight so im sure a lot of tickets were free.
