it ****** that brand didn't get a full camp anyways, so I guess things happen for a reason. if you're gonna pick a soft touch at least give the guy some time to train. he should've pursued gonzalez from the start though, beating brand tells us absolutely nothing about ward at 175. and i didn't like him saying he doesn't need to explain crappy opposition when its been damn near five years since his last good win. he needs to explain a whole lot actually.

Ward hasn't done anything to make me think that it will happen.
This fight isn't in the confines of a tournament.

          Good news !

Duva remains positive and optimistic, they obviously still want that fight.

Likely no big deal and should not affect the big picture.

Regarding the whole Ward thing..... Duva has been great regarding a difficult situation that was not of her making..... I think she really got backed into a corner with Stevenson, not by the fighter I mean, by the situation.

I think we will get Stevenson/Kovalev, or Stevenson/Ward, as well.

Do you have a hard time w/ reality or what?? FFS, you just read that Kovalev's people plan for him to fight Ward. They each have 2 fights before then so it's quite obvious why they haven't signed a physical contract. However, it's clear from both sides that they have agreed to fight, providing they win the fights leading up. That's not in dispute. Where is your interest in denying the obvious????

Let's say he takes a couple months off and fights again in January or Feburary against a tune like Brand. He can then fight on Kovalev's undercard in June-July, or on a separate card, and then they can square off in November. So it appears that they could still be on schedule. That is of course if Ward wants to fight 3 times.

Ward's team said that's what Ward plans on doing is fighting 3 opponents in 2016.
Super-middleweight world champion Andre Ward has withdrawn from his Nov. 21 light-heavyweight debut, which was to be the co-main event on the Miguel Cotto-Saul “Canelo” Alvarez card at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas.

Ward’s trainer, Virgil Hunter, told The Times in text messages Thursday that Ward has already begun rehabilitation and is considering a return date in early 2016.

Another individual close to Ward told The Times that Ward was seeking to fight at least once more in 2016 before pursuing an anticipated date against light-heavyweight champion Sergey Kovalev by the end of the year. It’s unclear if the injury will alter those plans.
Good points, hope you guys are right.

If he dominates a B-Level opponent or maybe one of Kovalev's previous opponents, to see how he does, he'll know if he's ready for Kovalev. If he struggles against a B-Level fighter or anybody that Kovalev previously dominated, then he knows that he's only a B-Level fighter at LHW and may have to go back down to SMW, where he's an A-Level fighter. The only thing is, going back down to 168 before fighter Kovalev, it'll probably take him off the P4P list.
Ward is not dipping his toe in the water, he is moving to LHW, he WILL fight Kovalev..... so the choice of opponent was disappointing.

Boxingwizard pointed out that the Brand fight may not even be official, we will have to wait and see I suppose.

                  funny shht

Those guys had to dedicate their entire career to that knockout comp, it mandated them to TOP fighters for 2 years.

That is why after earning an opportunity to fight 4 world-class opponents Ward is 4-0..... not 0 like Golovkin.

I can't believe the absurd horse-shht that you guys talk.

It is clearly obvious that Kovalev/Ward will happen.

Ward is NOT the guy who is avoiding world-class opponents.

But if you want the name of a guy who is, just ask

Yea..... " i'm a fun haver " sure is a wet-blanket when it comes to boxing

Why assume that fight won't happen, when all indications are that it will.
