I have a feeling that the winner will eventually fight him. I dont know whos really to blame there have been many conflicting reports as to who is responsible for Rigos fall lately.

It's interesting that you'd say that when the guy in your pic didn't fight Acelino Freites, Joel Casameyor, Kosta Tzyu, Antonio Margarito or Paul Williams!

Did you say the same thing when all those fights never materialised, or was it "strictly business"?

It's really hard to try and put the blame on anybody else when you hear all the reports of Rigo's team turning down multi-million deals!

People will say that his team is clearly at fault but when you're in your mid 30's and have only 14 fights eventually you have to say Rigo should have took the bull by the horns and demanded fights!

As much as I don't like Scott Quigg, he stated numerous times that he wanted the Rigo fight! Barry McGuigan wanted the Rigo fight after the second Kiko fight!

I think the winner will fight Donaire for the WBO. More money in that fight. Rigo will have the WBC so then that's the only fight left for whoever comes out of it. We'll see what happens then.

Division looks healthy to me. I don't agree with this thread, PBP. It seems to be angled solely towards what's best for Rigo.

I forgot Santa Cruz moved on. Whos Rigo fighting? I don't see him ranked for the WBC.

Edit: Rigondeaux vs. Vargas WBC Eliminator is Ordered

Does this apply to every division? Every titlist is a "paper champion" unless they are lineal? Or is it a special rule for Rigondeaux? I only ever hear it when it comes to him. He beat one guy - Donaire - for one other belt.

Paper champion implies that Frampton somehow stole the belt off Rigo by nefarious means when in reality, Rigo never had any claim to the IBF Title.

"How can he unify?" is a different question. The point is he never did.
Paper champion means you haven't beaten the champion of the division. Rigo beat Donaire to become THE champion. Everybody else is just a titleholder.

You guys can't have an intelligent boxing discussion without mentioning this guy. It never fails.

Don't use Caribe as an excuse to defend the cowardice of the 122 division. Caribe blocked deals for Rigo and did not do their part in making fights with top 15 contenders to keep him active. But they are not the reason why these paper titlists are ducking him.

If they want to fight him they can. You pay Rigo his purse, who cares what he does with his money after that?

So every titlist in boxing is a paper champion except like 3 or 4 fighters who are lineal champions?

Sergey Kovalev - paper champion. Really?

Not even close to the same situation. In that case the champion of the division ducked the top contender. My god, boxing is so ******ed.
