Because if he wants anyone to give a crap about him, if he wants to be seen as a legitimate champion, a future star, its time to start fighting like one.....
Either that or he can continue the legacy of black al Haymon fighters who no one gives a crap about because they don't want to fight anyone.Comment

(Up above) Preach, Addix! And Wilder HAS to fight someone better now. You can't prepare for good fighters (versatile fighters) like Povetkin by fighting these nobodies. Fury has done the same thing in prep for Klitschko, but unlike Wilder, Fury isn't afraid to step up and fight the best (I think Fury will lose, but it's admirable). Al Haymon greasing WBC pockets for more voluntaries isn't helping, either.Comment

It does seem that way yea. The fight couldve happened in Sept and i dont blame Povetkin for taking a fight in between. Wilder or Haymon whoever seems to be dragging their feet. Hopefully the fight happens in spring.Comment

Exactly! These are the types of posts i like to read on here. Straight truth and no one is playing Mr. Critic.I have no idea how the workings of the WBC mandatory/purse bid etc work. I'm a huge Wilder fan but even I see that he needs to step up his competition drastically. If the Povetkin fight can't be made right now, at least fight someone in the top 10, not this 20-30 rated garbage he's fought latelyComment

I get Wilder want to stay active. He claims to doesnt want to wait around for Povetkin. Why not fight him in Feb or March and fulfill is mando for the year. If he gets through it he can take as many voluntaries as he wants for the rest of the year. It doesnt look good from a champions standpoint to want to pick all his opponents. He didnt like it when Stiverne made him wait.Comment
