See, this is the problem with this forum. You guys are holding ridiculous standards to Golovkin, a non-American professional boxer trying to make a splash into the American market.
Kell Brook - professional fighter since 2004 (11 years)
Only has fought one legitimate opponent and holds one of the four major belts.
Keith Thurman - professional fighter since 2007 (8 years)
Will be fighting his first champion level opponent for his first real belt.
Terence Crawford - professional fighter since 2008 (7 years)
Has only fought 2 good opponents, holds one major belt.
Viktor Postol - professional fighter since 2007 (8 years)
Has only fought 1 good opponent, holds one major belt.
Deontay Wilder - professional fighter since 2008 (7 years)
Has only fought 1 decent opponent, holds one major belt
Jermell Charlo - professional fighter since 2007 (8 years)
Has only fought 1 decent opponent
Jermall Charlo - professional fighter sicne 2008 (7 years)
Has won one major belt, wouldn't really consider any of his opponents too good
Do I really need to continue? Golovkin has fought more top 10 opponents in his division than any of these guys included, by far. Weak division or not, stop acting like no other boxer is this slow in progress like GGG.
So, according to you, GGG at 33 years old has finally ascended to the level of top prospects and guys who won their first real belt in the last year?
Great argument, I agree.
I agree with you, Golovkin is about similar to Wilder's level.
Except that Wilder hasn't avoided 4 world-class opponents.
GGG should be taking the fights that he is avoiding, especially the lil guys.
Who has Golovkin avoided? Ward, maybe? I can't tell what other three opponents you are talking about. You can't be serious. You'd have to be blinded by hate to seriously think GGG was ducking Cotto/Canelo. I don't even know who's the fourth person you're talking about.

My point, which you completely missed, was the majority of fighters I named don't receive anywhere near the level of flack as compared to GGG, despite having similar time length as professional boxers. Secondly, I mentioned at the end that none of these guys had accomplished as much as Golovkin in their own division, and that at least GGG has consistently fought top 10 fighters in his division. Yet the hate for Golovkin rages on.

AGAIN, as has already been stated, those fighters aren't being ranked as top P4P guys. Can you imagine the uproar if Wilder, or ANY of those guys on your list were being called #1 P4P at this point in their career???? How are you missing that basic point?
That's why Golovkin supporters catch flack, they want to take a guy with an intermediate resume and put him in the king's seat. Do that with any of the guys in your list and the same fekkin thing happens.

I think we can actually say the same about Miguel cotto or canelo if that's the case.....most UK people don't know who they are as well if your not a boxing fan , no one in the boxing world has the same name as a Mayweather or pacquaio...
No, we can't actually say the same thing at all about Cotto or Canelo.
Or even close.
Those guys ARE genuine PPV stars, Golovkin wants to be one.
You are tripping if you think Cotto/Canelo are less well-known than Golovkin.

Those guys don't have anywhere near the same amount of hype to live up to.

Cotto/Canelo aren't trying to make a fight that will only sell in the UK, so I don't really get your point. They sure as hell are more well known in US. We know that now.
