actually i would like an explanation. why alexander brand of all people? i don't see what he thinks he will accomplish by beating up on super middleweight journeymen at the light heavyweight limit. it won't prepare him for kovalev and it won't raise his profile, it's just a waste of everyone's time as far as i can see

There is no justification for that move apart from to make Ward look great in front of casuals on the upcoming PPV - it is pure deceptive marketing ploy. If Golovkin said he was moving up to fight Ward at 168 "sometime" soon and then pulled up the no 21 ranked MW up to SMW - the shit that would rain down on his head would stink out California for weeks.
