      I don't think he can carry his power up against the heavyweights and he is not especially fast or have a high skill set. I think he would win a cruiserweight title though.

          No! At 185 to 195 he doesn't display power like a Dempsey or Marciano had at those weights. Thats what you need to be competitive with bigger man.
          Jones beat Ruiz who was not a top shelf heavy by any means.
          If anyone from his team thought he could compete he'd be there now, he isn't a young man in the boxing world so he's not growing into the division. The cruser division is BS so he's right where he needs to be. He has Superman and Ward soon and could earn a nice payday with both.

            I rate Kovalev highly as a light heavyweight but he doesn't seem like someone who would carry extra weight well. I think he would be too fleshy even at 200 lbs and wouldn't take the heavyweight punches well.
