  • This is a business. And I don't know if 97k makes financial sense for A-sides like Cotto and Canelo.

Same excuse, bro!!! Has GGG ever made a catchweight sacrifice in order to make a big money fight for the sake of his fans??? ... NO

Cotto/Canelo had made the same sacrifices to meet a catchweight demand (Pac/Mayweather) in order to make that "big drama show" that the fans were asking for..... (worth some respect)

Cotto vs GGG SHOULD have a catchweight in order to be fair... Cotto is the money maker and is not a FULL MW...

Canelo vs GGG SHOULD also have some type of Catchweight in order to be Fair...

GGG's team made the WARD Catchweight demand at 164 becuase GGG's team felt that was a fair demand in order for the fight to competitive. Same Zhit just a different Way.... NUFF SAID

      • GGG fanboyz are super SALTY with either Cotto or Canelo!!! #ILoveIT

I am going to do a side by side comparison:

        #GGGfanBoyzMustHaveForgot

        Miguel Cotto:

        - Champion in 4 different weight classes (started at 140)
        - Has been a PPV fighter SINCE 2006 and established record breaking numbers since then.
        - Has fought the best: at 140- N'Dou, Sosa, Pinto, Torres, Corley. at 147- Malignagi, Quintana, Judah, Mosley, Margarito, Clottey, Pacquiao. 154, Mayorga, Mayweather, Margarito 2, Trout, Rodriguez. MW, Martinez, Geale and now Saul Canelo Alvarez (One of the best resumes in boxing FOR ANY ACTIVE BOXER IF NOT THE BEST )
-Guaranteed Hall of Famer, 2 Fights left in his career. (Cotto's story is already written, He doesnt need GGG ONLY DUE TO HIS MANDATORY STATUS wich is a joke)

        Gennady Golovkin:

        - PPV debut (last month) (97k buys) (Had one of the best undercards in a long time, still did 97k buys) (Failure).
-Claims to have sold out MSG (not really) (Ticket prices $50-500) (compare to Cotto/Canelo $150-2000) (Black Friday sales type of deal)(Of course people bought tickets). Lots of Canadians there cheering for Lemiuex and Nicaraguans there to see Chocolatito (They FILLED in at least half MSG).
-One of the weakest resume in boxing (SO FAR) Proksa, Stevens, Geale, Rubio, Lemiux?? (yes super weak resume while claiming he is a "boggieman")
-One division champion ONLY. (GGG has not challenged himself with other bigger boys, compare to Cotto)

Cotto is about to retired, of course he is looking for best fights out there (money fights)

It is self-explanatory that GGG needs Cotto, not the other way around.

Ps: Cotto stated in this post that he is open to consider GGG, while GGG has stated that if Cotto does not meet him at 160 he WILL NOT FIGHT.

GGG fanboyz must be proud of their idol accomplishments so far..... NOT!!!!

            • At this point it doesn't even matter. Do I want to see Golovkin-Cotto? Yes, but we all know Cotto would get humiliated in front of a bigger man like GGG. His wife and kids wouldn't even show up to this fight.

I'm more interested in watching Cotto or Canelo pull the Rid**** Bowe move and dump it in the trash.

              • Honestly, I don't know what we would learn from GGG by beating up Cotto.

He's just too small to be competitive. We ALL know that.

Cotto has taken on every customer, moved down to accommodate, moved up to accommodate and make his name (something GGG won't do).

What doest GGG prove by beating Cotto?

                  • After this fight, Cotto will be in the running to face Mayweather, in a fight that would generate millions. And if that doesn't happen, there's always the possibility of a Canelo rematch, which would also generate millions. Now, having those options, why in his right mind would Cotto opt for Golovkin? Golovkin barely had 97k-150,000 PPV buys. Cotto would never be able to earn the kind of money he's after, if that's all Golovkin brings to the table. You don't make 30 million off of that--that simple. Cotto wants an opponent who brings in his own fan base, as well, thereby increasing revenue.

I've thought it all along that Cotto never truly saw Golovkin as being on his level. To some Golovkin fans, that may seem impossible, but that's the impression I've had. Yes, Golovkin's this new guy on the scene, but that doesn't mean he's earned a shot at the King of the division. Has the WBC orchestrated this whole "mandatory" situation? Sure, but, you need to understand, you CANNOT force a fighter to take part in a financial disaster. Like it or not, Golovkin's going to have to step up and beat someone like Froch, etc, and prove he has a fan base outside of some of the guys posting here.

And don't even come with the whole "scared" excuse. Cotto has fought everybody there is to fight in boxing. He's not scared of anybody. This guy has faced monster after monster after monster, almost all at or near their peak. No one else has done this to the degree Cotto has.

It's just simple economics, here. Cotto believes he deserves a lot of money at this stage of his career, and I agree. And if you want to mention the competitive aspect, then let me remind you that Mayweather is higher than Golovkin on every single level in boxing. He's the true pound for pound king. Golovkin is just a good fighter who's knocking out B-level guys. That's not enough to claim he's better than Mayweather. Period.

If the WBC has problem with it, Cotto will dump the title in the trash, and laugh at how they deal with Golovkin's 97k "sanctioning fees." Cotto doesn't need the title; he'd still be the lineal champion. I cannot believe these guys coming on here and trashing a legend like Cotto. It shows all you need to know.
