Canelita will be schooled by the Champion (King Cotto) like it or not.

The excuses of fighters who don't want to fight GGG keep coming.

Floyd's success has changed this sport, and not for the better as far as fans are concerned. In the future, we will see dozens and dozens of undefeated "world champions" campaigning in the same weight classes who never get around to fighting each other. They will be considered great by their fans (and even by the so-called experts of the day), but it will be nothing but an illusion. Of course its smart business to manage a career this way, but real fans know that this is killing the sport. Every generation wants to crown their best fighter as the greatest who ever lived, but, give us a break, the sport is not the same as it once was. Contemporary fighters may well be better athletes (on average) than the greats of the past, but are they really as good? We will probably never know because they won't be challenged in the same way and fans such as yourself will always be there to make excuses for them.
The thing is as far as Cotto is concerned there is nothing to excuse. He's not a true Middleweight.

He is fighting one of the best fighters in the world who is younger and naturally bigger than him. Why do I need to excuse that?

The title situation is the only that is wrong here. What do we expect Cotto to do? Drop the belt voluntarily? Come out and say he isnt the lineal champion? Obviously never going to happen. Not unless he moves back down to 154 (which imo is the most likely scenario if he wins or loses and doesnt retire) You wouldnt do it, I wouldnt do it, GGG wouldnt do it.

The people in charge of the sport create the system that allows this to happen. The fighters and their teams take advantage of it.

I fully support those that say, as I do, that if he is going to market himself as WC, then he should fight Golovkin. But I'm not going to get pissy at the fact he is taking advantage of the situation infront of him.

Whatever. The weakest paper champ in boxing gets stripped and we move on

Regarding stripping GGG: but what if GGG WILL FULFILL his mandatory obligations? If he fights 4 times per year it is quite possible. And now we return again to the first point: if GGG can generate money by himself - why would ABC organizations strip him? Golovkin's money are not worse that Canelo's money.

            ^^^^ This right here!!

GGG vs Lemiuex ticket prices ($50-500). Canadians and Nicaraguans filled AT LEAST half of MSG. GGG did not sell out MSG by himself, he had one of the best undercards in a long time and Bargain price tickets in order to SELL OUT MSG. Cotto has sold out MSG MULTIPLE TIMES BY HIMSELF.

Cotto vs Canelo ticket prices ($150-2000).

GGG financially for HBO, PPV and other possible opponents is still a failure.

Pure bull****. This is not the damn PGA. There is no f-u-c-k-ing Senior's Tour in boxing. If you can't run with the big dogs anymore, stay on the damn porch.

Leonard was the draw against Hagler, and he bought every advantage he could.
Wait, GGG is getting stripped for turning down mando Ward?

                  Cotto is Legend

Miguel Cotto should not fight GGG at 160 Miguel beat the true middle weight champion Sergio Martinez in dominating fashion Sergio has names he beat really good ones and no excuses he lost and git ROCKED by Cotto ..GGG has fought NO BODY with any real punching power or boxing skill there is plenty of challenges out there at Middle weight and junior middleweight if wants Cotto who is smaller then fight any middleweight or Jr middleweight...Cotto is The A side and the money maker GGG needs to fight contenders not pretenders ....Cotto gets stripped of his belt GGG is called a paper champ and still has no pay day and will get beat up by Andre Ward somewhere in the future

Reading our posts, I would say that you and I are in near perfect agreement with each other. We both acknowledge the reality of the situation; I'm just not cool with it. The winner of Cotto-v-Canelo should be stripped if they refuse to fight GGG at 160. Period (especially if its Cotto as he's paraded around for far too long as a phony MW champ).
