I would say he did enough to win fighter of the year but it's not a lock. If Cotto is able to score a spectacular KO or completely dominate Canelo then I would say he's fighter of the year. Other than that, Mayweather should win
for getting a victory in one of the most anticipated fights in a long time.

If you have a an opponent who loves to 'not box, but just hug and run all night' There is no way in hell you can be effective.

Boxing is blocking shots with your arms and evading, not by intentionally clinching. That's a no no in boxing rules.

But Hometown loves FLoyd what do you expect. He still got a nod for all that *****ness lol

Yeah, not seeing it. One win is meaningless, the other was both tainted and a near tie against an injured opponent.
Golovkin scored dominant stoppages of top ten opponents Murray and Lemieux.
Badou Jack upset top ten Anthony Dirrell and defended against top ten George Groves.
Klitschko has beaten top ten Bryant Jennings. If he also beats Fury, he's another possibility.
Kovalev destroyed Jean Pascal and Nadjib Mohammedi, both top ten.
Gonzalez destroyed top ten Sosa and beat down top ten Viloria.
Truth be told, really hard to think of a standout candidate.
That's about it in a nutshell.

I don't think many people are going to seriously consider Mayweather as Fighter Of The Year. He beat Pacman in a competitive fight. What else did he do?

The whole IV situation fizzled out in less than a day. Only a few die hards on here insist on keeping it alive. That's a non issue for me. Show me a failed test and I might change my mind.

                    This is probably fair.

Everyone said Mayweather would never fight Pacquiao.

Turns out he was the one making all the moves while Arum and Pac laid low.

And right up to the fight a lot of fans thought Pacquiao would beat him.

I don't think anyone else has a more significant win.
