Canelo and Cotto are great money generators but everyone is going to say that they don't generate enough money if they are asking for $50 mil purses each.

Being a "money generator" is proportional to the budget you have. Monroe's not a money generator but he's getting paid chump change. Ward and Lara are better money generators than Monroe but the purse they need would be much more than what Monroe ever got. The cost might be 15x more for a Ward/Lara fight than Monroe but the money generated might not equate to 15x.

Rather than get into a back and forth, let me sum up. My whole point is simple: GGG has the least leverage of the guys he wants to fight (and I repeat, two guys who have never fought at 160), and yet his team seems to not get it. When you're on GGG's position, you give like Floyd did with Oscar, or Canelo with Floyd.

When he is ready to do that, he will likely earn the status. But he is not going to be the first C-side in history to all of a sudden make demands. You do that, you don't fight. You fight Monroe.

I can't wait for GGG's team to get it and see his real greatness when he fights boxers he is not expected to beat. I am genuinely excited to see him do that rather than wait out Cotto and Canelo, who he'll likely beat up.

That's probably true. You're right. But you can't use that logic to defend GGG's choices because then Cotto and Canelo could avoid GGG all of their careers and still become mega stars with tons of paydays.
