It is true that a number of people on here have never boxed before and do not know the game like the pro's do, but that does not mean that their opinions are not valid. Without the fans the sport is dead. Besides, some of the best analysis and observation has come from guys who never fought a round in their lives. Respect is a two way street, and those in the game definitely deserve the respect of fans. It just gets a little old hearing the whole "you never lived this life" so you don't know **** theory.
It is not a conceded view. A number of you would never box, I know. But can you tell me that non of them have ever dreamed or thought about what it would be like to be the champion of the world. And I never did say that if you have never boxed than your opinions are not valid. Some of the guys on here have great words about the game that never stepped into a ring.

But when somebody says that this guy is a ***** and this guy is a ***** that is when I will say that they know **** about boxing and boxers. You get tired of the "you never lived the life" and I get tired of the people disrespcting the boxers, officials and the game. It is a 2 way street.

I know that people say that the 10 second warning had sounded, but man, with the knockdown and all of the people going crazy yelling and all I can see how steele didnt hear it. Another 10 seconds and Taylor may would have won that fight. Or another 10 seconds and Cahvez may have killed him. Its best to error on the side of saftey and let the fighter live to fight another day. Even with the stoppage Taylor was never the same after that fight, it took a hell of alot out of him. Those 10 seconds that steele did not let Taylor fight might be a reason that he is still alive today. Chavez was one hell of a ****er and even more of a finisher. I always thought that it was a good call, but thats just my opinion.

yeah but on the otherhand he was a warrior and a man with a warrior heart would rather die in the ring then have his fight taken away...I see youir point i agree but i feel bad for the man as much as that fight meant to him and his career

I value your oppinion on it and see its merit I just disagree with it. What I do agree is in how badly damaged he was from that fight. He was never the same after that fight and from an expose I saw on Taylor he appeared to be very Holyfieldish but even more so. It was so so sad seeing them put a clip of a pre-chavez interview of Taylor and then seeing how he currently speaks.

i think he's a good ref what hurts him is the way HBO made it look as if the fight was fixed by King and Steele which is wrong. I think that's where people are getting their opinions from on the topic

10 seconds more of Chavez beating on him and he could have been alot worse.

This fight and stoppage will be debated until the world ends. It was an awsome and grueling fight.

This isn't the only **** up Richard Steele has made. After awhile it gets old.

Give me smoger and bayliss over steele anyday.

THAT right there is the only problem I have with Steele. Exactly!
