Lets stop all of the hating!!!!!!!!!

Richard Steele is highly respected amongst his peers in the boxing world. His refereeing skills are par with any of the other great refs out there. A man can miss a call, we are all human and I have missed one on occasion aswell.

It seems that the internet boxing world is about hating and bitching as so many of you have proven.

O.k. so lets ay we get rid of all of the fighters and referees that you guys have a beef about. Our boxing world would then be degraded to ****.

Appreciate that these guys devote a big part of their lives for this game. The referees will do the best that they humanly can and the fighters will give it what they have inside of them. Remember that these fighters are sustaining irreversable damage when they take those beatings and I believe that they should deserve alot of respect from the keyboard warriors, but few have the class to acknowledge that.

So many do nothing but ***** about this and ***** about that when they have very little insight into what is actually going on. Some, or more accurately few have great insight and knowledge of the sport. To those people I have great respect when they can look at something objectively, with out pre conceived emotion, and tell it like it is. I mean how many posts up there read "Lacys a *****.... Richard Steele is garbage..... Jones is a ***** that wont fight anybody..." need I say more?

Most of you probably dream of being at their level. A world class fighter or referee traveling the world in pursuit of a dream. To the haters I say keep living in your dream world and the fighters and refs will continue living in their dream world that they are surrounded by day after day. Just try to have some respect for these people. You guys are supposed to be the fans, not the haters of the game.

I give all the respect in the world to boxers because of exactly what you just said: they are taking irreversible damage by doing what they do for a living.

That being said, it is possible to disagree with some of the fighters career moves or referees calls without hating. After all, without us fans, these boxers wouldn't be millionaires, and these refereees wouldn't be as widely recognized. So the fans definitely have say in what goes on.

Personally, I don't like Steele. He screwed a Philly boy out of beating a legend, and he didn't have a good night of officiating on Saturday. That is enough for me to not like him.

However, I dod understand your point about respect. It is absurd that someone sitting behind a keyboard can call another fighter a ***** or whatever. Just try not to take it too personally as a figher yourself. Take care.

Yeah, I mean it wasn't a bad call he just didn't see it. We saw it because they were like "I think his glove touched the mat" then they played replays that confirmed this. Steele also didnt get a chance to deduct points or the like after the low blow rabbit punch, he was sending the guys to the corners when Roger immediately came into the ring.

I think Richard Steele is a good ref along with Cortez but Steele did make a bad call in Chavez vs Taylor.

I've seen alot worse as far as refs go, Steele is one of the better refs out there.

              Well said Rockin....

I find it funny we have a bias call the Zab haters are like "He should be DQ'D for the low blow and the rabbit punch"-Despite Steele saying he didnt see the rabbit punch

Mayweather haters are like "rules are rules his corner man stepped in AUTOMATIC DQ" But they fail to comprehend the rulebook of the commission that it is up to the REF to do so DURING the fight......

Chances are if anything happens Mayweather (Roger) will get banned or fined....People are blowing this whole thing out of proportion its ridiculous I agree but people bitched about Nady in the Tszyu fight...

              Sore losers

.......This is a good post, and while I know the point that Rockin is trying to make, his post seems a little condescending. Trying to insinuate that a number of us have the life long dream of being a ref and are therefore somewhat jealous is insulting. It is true that a number of people on here have never boxed before and do not know the game like the pro's do, but that does not mean that their opinions are not valid. Without the fans the sport is dead. Besides, some of the best analysis and observation has come from guys who never fought a round in their lives. Respect is a two way street, and those in the game definitely deserve the respect of fans. It just gets a little old hearing the whole "you never lived this life" so you don't know **** theory.

I have a 180 degree view on the Taylor fight than you do. Not that your wrong or anything but I see it like this. Taylor had eaten alot of hard shots that night and continued fighting strongly. However, in that 12th round when he was dropped he was obviously still in alot of trouble. I know that people say that the 10 second warning had sounded, but man, with the knockdown and all of the people going crazy yelling and all I can see how steele didnt hear it. Another 10 seconds and Taylor may would have won that fight. Or another 10 seconds and Cahvez may have killed him. Its best to error on the side of saftey and let the fighter live to fight another day. Even with the stoppage Taylor was never the same after that fight, it took a hell of alot out of him. Those 10 seconds that steele did not let Taylor fight might be a reason that he is still alive today. Chavez was one hell of a ****er and even more of a finisher. I always thought that it was a good call, but thats just my opinion.
