Canelo really needs to use his jab, all night long. Also he needs to use alot of faints and aim the body.

Would not be a bad idea to watch for that left hook.

Those are his three strengths. Knowing Cotto doesn't want to stay on the inside he better be prepared to counter punch and while pushing Cotto towards the ropes. Being the taller fighter he should try to jab over Cotto's jab as well to try and disrupt Cotto's rhythm.

Cotto getting into his rhythm early on is the last thing Canelo wants. By round 8 both of their stamina should be depleting and should favor the younger Canelo but Canelo should still try to get the early jump because Cotto has more championship experience.
I agree but I would actually favor the more experienced fighter.

Alvarez's feet might be slow but his hands are fast and accurate, and he can counter well. Cotto's defense isn't good enough to not get laid hands on and if the ginger lands enough, Cotto will get worn down and start running.

The way I look at it these two are close in skill, but Alvarez is much younger and bigger. I think he wins.

What can Canelo do? The answer is nothing. He can't beat Cotto. I said this 2-3 years ago, I'm saying it again now. I thought Cotto would be more faded by now but fighting at a comfortable weight, where he doesn't have to try and make any divisionsal limits and fighting very, very sparingly, had extended his career. I think physically, from a fitness standpoint, he is better than Canelo.

Now, I'm not one of those believers in the whole Roach/Cotto dynamic, Freddie hasn't taught him anything new or reinvented him, he has just got him back to what he was doing before Pacquiao destroyed what was left of his offensive confidence. Coto is in the same sort of mood he was when getting in the ring with Margy. Confident, strong, a believer in his jab, hook, body work and invincibility.

Canelo is slow, comes forward, with decent head movement but gets lazy and doesn't have the best stamina around. He is custom made for Cotto.
