Counter for the first half of the fight and move to cottos right. .

Lead rt hands being timed over cottos jab .
Lots of body work to follow up the head shots canelo does land.

    Slip and clinch .
Check hooks near the ropes while cotto steps in with a jab .

    Rinse and repeat
By round 7 go to work. And put pressure .canelo has very solid speed in his combination speed. Make a tired cotto play defense. Walk him down and fire combos.

This will be a battle of attrition - by the 6th round, both will be dog tired

I still think this is a 51/49 fight in favor of Canelo; but I think Cotto's sucess and his chance ot win will be based on his big time experience in championship fights. He has experience going twelve when tired and that'll help him

Canelo is huge with a lot of muscular mass - his body needs a whole lot more oxygen for his muscles. His training routine is curious to me, then again I am not there.

The better conditioned guy will win

Cotto has his power back, he has that snap on his punches, Everyone keeps pointing to his opposition, but even he didn't have serious power he wouldn't of rocked his opponents like he did. Also he is fighting more efficiently under Roach, using more angles. Canelo needs to be set to throw, Canelo has a great right hand that can trouble Cotto if he can get in position to throw it over Cottos jab. But in order to get in position you need good foot work. If Canelo wants to win this fight, he needs to be concentrating on improving his foot work more than any other aspect in his game. Sure Canelo has faster hands..but that don't mean much when you have excellent timing and positioning.
        - Two ways Canelo wins, if he goes beast mode like Margarito and is willing to eat shots for at least 5-6 rounds and make Cotto back pedal. Or he improves on his footwork and is able to outbox Cotto.

His only chance is going for the KO in the first four rnds. Cotto just has to watch out for those uppercuts in the early rnds.

We're definitely seeing the infamous Cotto backpedal in this fight.

I think we're more likely to see Canelo go backwards than Cotto - I truly believe Canelo will go the pure boxer route this fight. He did it against Floyd and I think he'll do it against Cotto

You need a granite chin for that strategy. I don't think Canelo would be able to eat Cotto's shots the way Marg did.

That second one sounds much more likely.

Canelo going Margito on Cotto??? Canelo can't produce that level of punch output. LOL he'd be out of gas by the 2nd rnd. Please refrain from such unrealistic statements.

In my Dwyer voice : Consider this or a moment.....Miguel Cotto has been out-landed in power punches by Manny Pacquiao,Floyd Mayweather ( yes Mayweather) and Austin Trout according to Compubox ; so it should come as no surprise that Freddie Roach has a Cruiser weight world Champion (Dennis Lebedev) as a sparring partner for this camp. Therefore Canelo should position himself to exchange with Cotto doing so with caution, high guard chin down as Miguel Cotto is a excellent counter puncher -- recently he demonstrated that he still has KO power vs. : Geale,Martinez, and Rodriquez.

I believe Cotto needs to move and box off the backfoot to be victorious in this bout as this keeps Canelo from punching in volume/combination punching ; the jab is the primary weapon if Im Cotto's coach: Keep in mind that Canelo only landed around 15% of his jab vs. Floyd Mayweather and even worse vs Erislandy Lara ( a mere 5%). In frustration of this Saul has abandoned his discipline and leaves himself open for counters. Cotto should avoid the ropes and circle to the center as much as possible : Rounds 4,8,10, & 12 are round that Cotto needs to move the most as these are rounds that Canelo has landed power punches with greater accuracy.
