Its all about how you spin ****. Boxing fans are more fair weather-ish, MMA fans are more loyal. Like right now the UFC gots at least 5 ppl who seem to be doing 500k+ buys for their PPV's & are pretty much across the board at the beginning or near the beginning of their hype train. Boxing has 2ppl that can do 500k+ buys & are basically out of the game or one fight from being out (I suspect Canelo enters this 500k+ club in a month, but he's not there yet). And the UFC is churning out monthly PPV's for the last decade basically, some of which have competitive fights, but zero name value to so its not surprising those do GGG vs Lemieux numbers.
The only thing the UFC really shows boxing is if you got a quality product you can make a lot of money every month instead of just two or three times a year. I believe the UFC is worth 2 billion, so imagine how much having a boxing equal of the UFC would be worth. I think boxing fans will become more loyal when someone finally does create a UFC of boxing.
