does Al Haymon really need PBC?

This is my conspiracy theory, but I believe that the network that ends up securing the big TV deal will be Showtime/CBS (NBC/NBCSN, to me, is the wildcard in the whole thing, largely because they have rights to the Olympics and their sports network is available in far more homes that CBS Sports Network is).Originally posted by saint laurentScipio -
And Haymon hasn't cut out PPV yet either, but it's pretty clear where this is heading. If PBC takes off in a few years and they can find a network willing to give them a big TV deal, I don't see how Showtime will fit into the picture anymore.
During football season, the feature content will likely be shifted to Showtime (CBS being the home to SEC Football on most Saturdays limits the potential Saturday dates available to PBC). When football season is over, outside of the NCAA Tournament, CBS doesn't have much content currently booked up for those Saturdays.
CBS Sports becomes the home for prospect fights (non-TV fights for full PBC shows), CBS becomes the the home for the vast majority of the PBC shows, and Showtime Championship Boxing becomes the stage for the massive PBC-related showdowns (Wilder-Joshua, Beterbiev-Ward, JRock-Charlos, Spence Jr, etc; thinking ahead) and international fights, with CBS's online presence utilized to unify all of that.
Showtime still gives Haymon a platform to take his PPV-quality showdowns to. With CBS stepping up, Showtime's position in CBS/Showtime changes but is still a major one, especially in terms of the boxing content.
6-10 major shows each year, 1-3 PPV fights (if the showdowns merit), and enough ShoBox content to keep the out-and-out boxing junkies satisfied.Comment
