does Al Haymon really need PBC?

I feel most of the fights that he's putting up are weak and could be put on ESPN Friday night fights....al haymon should only be putting stacked cards on Showtime and lower level fights on ESPN no need to be spreading boxing to wack network like Spike & Bounce TV and wasting money on NBC putting wacky fight instead of putting great matchups...

Showtime could destroy HBO if he puts up great match ups like Thurman vs Porter,Wilder vs Povetkin,Broner vs Imam,Charlos vs J-Rock,Khan vs Garcia 2,Beterbiev vs Stevenson other great matchups..and then put lower level fights/prospects fights like Spence vs Vasquez & Guerrero vs Josesito Lopez on ESPN....just my thoughts

I'm also tired of the WWE entrance & no damn Ring girls and Ring annoncer....get my man Jimmy Lennon Jr

There is no doubt, the PBC is Haymons big move. Even if no one is 100 percent sure what the end game is.

I am sure he could just go back to putting shows on Showtime if this tanks, but would he want to? Probably not. He wants to revolutionize the sport, not just make a few bucks off Showtime.

Plus, how on Earth can he keep his hundreds of fighters happy if he just has the 15-20 Showtime shows a year?

My guess is that if PBC fails, he has slow withdrawl from the sport, and things will slowly go back to the way they were. Though it could wind up being a lot worse, because who knows if any network is going to want to pay for boxing when they got paid to air it for a few years? It's going to be interesting to see it all play out.

All Haymon is seeking to change the entire model for how the sport is to be presented and marketed; most people don't like change, which is fine.

Showtime is likely to still be Haymon's prime partner for major showdowns (Wilder-Klitschko, Stevenson-Kovalev, Khan-Brook, etc) and likely supplement for during football season going forward [September-January will likely be rough for network broadcasts, period]. Still, the plan is there.

NBC/NBCSN, CBS/Showtime, or Fox/FS1 will likely end up securing the main content deal (unsure of how committed ABC is to expanding their sports content), once this test phase is complete, from where Haymon will push his efforts to "expand the pie", so to speak.

It's a long game here; sit tight and enjoy the ride

but fans need haymon because he's the only chance for there to eventually be a single league with all of the best fighters, and even better, haymon wants it to happen on major network TV, saving fans the cost of HBO, showtime and pay-per-view.
... Haymon hasn't cut out Showtime from the project; Showtime definitely missed out on 7-8 really strong shows (basically counting the primetime NBC/ESPN shows), but their PPV business was still strong, they still have Chavez Jr/Wilder as largely Showtime fighters, and the explosion of content elsewhere has also allowed them to expand their ShoBox content business, while also opening up things for more possible international fights, while still delivering Showtime a fall schedule to trump HBO's year, again.

For 2016, Showtime is still likely to end up with Klistchko-Wilder, Khan-Brook, Frampton-Quigg, Degale/Jack/ChavezJr/Abraham at 168, Stevenson-Fonfara 2, Thurman-Porter, Quillin/Jacobs/Lee/Saunders at 160, and Matchroom Sports Chris Eubank Jr and Anthony Joshua, along with the continued push of ShoBox, among other showdowns.

Haymon's needs that money. That's where his competitive edge came from. Without those big purses there's no real reason to be with him over anyone else.

Supposedly their plan was to take Showtime guys onto network TV and bring them back to Showtime as bigger stars.

So far it's broner and the Quillin/Jacobs fight making it back

Doesn't matter who those people are because they'll be instantly discredited as random people online who don't know better.

Haymon needs his own television channel instead of having everybody fight on different networks, lol.
