GGG's been a pro 8 years, so he's younger in terms of boxing years. Cotto's been through wars, yeah, but he's still got more than enough spring in his step to make a Canelo fight 50/50 - 60/40 for Canelo. Both Cotto and Canelo are 2x better wins than Froch. GGG does not need to fight lhw's to prove he's a great fighter and on top of the sport today. Unlike Ward, when GGG moves up next year after beating Lee and becoming undisputed, he's gonna fight James DeGale or Fedor Chudinov who will be the WBA Super champ after Ward vacates. No tuneups, no weight adjusting fights. Just good fights. Unlike Ward.

I'm honestly having a hard time understanding how fighting a 168 lb fighter at 175 is going to help ward prepare for kovalev. It's like getting ready to drive in NASCAR,by practicing on the bumper cars at the fair.

Why do you care how he prepares? He signed a deal with HBO to fight Kovalev next year. That's all you gotta read. Don't worry about who he wants to shake the cobwebs with. You tune in when he fights Kovalev to determine P4P supremacy while Golovkin keeps begging JMW's to fight him while fighting the Tureano Johnson's of the world.

I agree, they are trying to turn GGG willing to go to England to fight Froch into a negative.

They're mad because team GGG was far too smart to let a LHW sucker them into a fight before GGG takes the MW pretenders down.

That's what kills me, they hit GGG for unifying against top MW, but Ward is pulling this, and they're like, what a brave dude.

I think Ward doesn't think he really has it anymore. If he did, he'd use this PPV to prove it by fighting at least a top 15 LHW.

Canelo at 25 isn't where most would consider prime;most would say prime is between 28 and 31. Hell guys got on Floyd because Canelo was to "green".

Rehydration has never been a problem in any other fight. If he could make the limit it was okay, and at 168 185 isn't too bad a rehydration. ggg should've never put the class on notice if he wasn't ready.

And whats funny is you mentioned the dichotomy, and you used 2 years as not much of a difference. If thats the case, no one can ever say that Canelo was to "green" for Floyd because that fight took place 2 years ago.

And as far as the Ward/Brand situation. This fight is only a tune up. As I mentioned Ward is moving toward a big doq, while ggg is waiting for 154lbers.
No one is acting like this is a good fight. Ward wants his body to get used to the weight. Whats ggg's excuse for not fighting real contenders?

I literally LOL at how sone of you cats literally HATE Andre Ward because he is not only a threat to GGG. But how he basically exposed GGG for not being this, "take on all comers", "do it for the glory and not the money" warrior they were trying to portray him as.

Its all good. He's moving on to bigger and better things. As a fight fan, Ward-Kovalev is a better match-up than Ward-GGG. GGG isn't close to being ad good as either of those guys. Although I am looking forward to all these clowns saying Kovalev is gonna destroy Ward. And, Ward is gonna duck the fight. Looking forward to how they turn on Kovalev after Ward beats him. Then all the, "GGG beat Kovalev in sparring" posts are gonna from the same clowns.
