The facts are: Floyd is a 3 time 154lb champ. GGG has offered to fight him there. No need for 160.

If GGG hasn't done anything, what has Berto, Ortiz, the Ghost, Judah, or Maidana done that has made them his choices?? That's what I thought.

Only if Floyd isn't as good as we thought he was. Why isn't it suicide when James Toney goes to heavyweight and fights heavy hitting heavyweight Samuel peters, or Duran to go up 2 divisions and fight haggler?

I think Floyd can last 12 rounds with GGG and make it a really boring fight. He can throw less and you never know Floyd may get a decision. Floyd I can visualize making GGG look silly, missing so much and chasing shadows. Floyd probably spars with heavyweights. All Floyd has to do is treat a fight with GGG like he would a sparring session.

Floyd needs to be underdog at least once in his career. That's how its been for every great fighter before Floyd. He will be criticised for not taking a risk, that is how people will remember him. His legacy wont grow like he hopes it will.

Do you think it would be bigger than Canelo or Pac? I like GGG but I don't know many casual fans that know who he is or what he brings to the table boxing wise.

Besides, at this stage of Mayweather's career, the only way he could beat GGG is by draining him. That fact alone would make the fight useless to for his legacy.

As Floyd has already schooled both Canelo and Pac, to the point that some fans like myself believe that neither of the two will ever have a chance of beating Floyd, I believe that with proper marketing a Floyd vs GGG fight would be the greatest draw among those three possible fights. As has already been mentioned on this thread, it would be fan expectation (Floyd may not only lose, but he may well be knocked out) versus surprise (possibility of Floyd winning) that would be the driving force. As for myself, I would not want Floyd to fight GGG; regardless of the outcome he simply has no need to do so.

Golovkin/Mayweather would absolutely be bigger than May/Pac.

The casual would buy into the fact that this would be his most dangerous fight ever.

At 160 FLoyd would be underdog, so it would be good for FLoyds soul and karma and being. Not many would expect Floyd to win, but not being expected to win shouldn't be a problem unless Floyd really does worry so much about that zero, at the expense of taking a risk and prove people wrong.

Showing he can last 12 rounds would be very impressive for Floyd and Floyd can do that with his eyes closed, so should go for it. FLoyd probably spars with people who hit harder than GGG, albeit with headgear and bigger gloves on, im sure Floyd spars with heavyweights in the past.

If FLoyd can last 12 rounds with GGG, nobody would ever suggest Duran or SRl would have destroyed Floyd like they do.

You absolutely can. There's a big size advantage for Golovkin. Granted, some of that advantage goes away if they fought at 154 CW and Golovkin comes in zombiefied.

I agree with OP - Floyd at 39 is not the same as Floyd at 33.. with or without the catchweight.

The better argument would be Floyd @ 33 vs. GGG @ 33 but without catchweights - Golovkin at his full strength vs. Floyd at his full strength. I would have loved to watch that!
