  • Comments Thread For: Andre Ward-Alexander Brand on Cotto-Canelo PPV

As recently reported, Andre Ward (28-0, 15 KOs) would still make his light heavyweight debut on November 21st, as part of the Miguel Cotto vs. Saul "Canelo" Alvarez HBO Pay-Per-View undercard.

As previously reported, the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) rejected a proposed fight between Ward and Australian contender Rohan Murdoch. The NSAC felt the fight was too uneven with a huge gap in class between the two fighters and Murdoch was also required to face Ward at the light heavyweight limit of 175-pounds.

Maybe Ward's getting a pass since he signed the three fight deal. Looking forward to see how he looks in his fight after this....the one that better be against a real LHW.

So Ward is fighting Brand at Chavez Jr weight? That's nothing but disappointing.

Probably against a LHW next time out, most likely won't be anything interesting though

if it all ends with him fighting Big K then I'm fine with it. That's the fight I wanna see.

Ward has done nothing to suggest that he will fight a real LHW next time out.

Yep. Let the real men fight whilst Little G continues to swat flies down at 160.

Colombian and Argentinian punchers can't be taken lightly. His 24-1 19KO record remind of guys like Matthysse vs Judah, Prescott vs Khan, Maidana vs Ortiz, Torres vs Cotto/Holt. Unknown puncher from South America. Ward better block out the backlash from picking this opponent and take this guy seriously. These unknown punchers with resumes full of journeymen are the most dangerous. I've learned that over the years. Ward better come with his A game or else he will get Ortiz'ed or Khan'ed or be given a tough fight like Judah/Cotto vs Matthysse/Torres. It also appears he started boxing late, so Team Ward should not put much into his age.
