Comments Thread For: Roy Jones Jr. Disagrees With Pros Fighting in Olympics

Former four division world champion Roy Jones Jr. disagrees with the 2013 format change by the Amateur International Boxing Association, which for the first time will allow professional fighters to compete in the Olympic games - starting with the 2016 Olympics.

Aiba's aim is to take over boxing. They won't make it.

That's what I was thinking. Haven't the Cubans already been putting seasoned pros against kids?

That has been a big factor in Cuba's success for a long time, hasn't it? Going back to the days of Teofilo Stevenson.

It would be perfect to have the top names at the Olympics like in golfing. Great platform for our sport. Imagine guys like Mayweather,Klitschko,Golovkin,Ward, Crawford, Pacquiao, Gonzalez, Kovalev, Khan participating for their country....great stuff!

Stevenson won his first Olympic gold at the ripe of age of... 20 you fools.

Or if that's still too old for you how about Robeisy Ramirez who won his at the pensionable age of 18?
