Call me the crazy one, but I can't believe getting beaten up by a sparring partner who's widely considered a wasted talent & unfocused is a good thing like some are suggesting.

It's not a bad group tbh. None have the speed of Canelo, but then Canelo won't have the speed of Cotto. liam smith is probably the best addition. Gomez is pretty good with how he measures his right hand while on the backfoot, he's lazy sob but he does that well. drove down to see him fight on Friday

Cotto's WBA welterweight tittle defenses againts Zab Judah and Shane Mosley were WAY better than Dawson Beating Hopkins and that Sergio Martinez win. Sergio's knee became disable after Cotto landed his very first left hook of the fight.

As much I respect Cotto I have to say I think Canelo is going to beat him down.

Those bruises are going to open into cuts once Canelo gets his gloves on him.

I was told by a friend of mine who is in LA with Cotto that Freddie has him on a gauntlet style sparring sessions against all boxers in their 20s and big and strong. He told me freddie has him going 3 rounds against glen tapia then he brings a fresh body in Frankie Gomez, then some european super midleweight i have no idea who he is and some other guy. Basically Cotto is facing a fresh body every 3 rounds. I guess that is their preparation for an early Canelo assault since i was told Freddie is instructing them to go all out in those 3 rounds.

Also cotto has a black eye because they are working on avoiding Canelo right hand and obviously that takes time. Cotto got hit by a few of those against Frankie Gomez but it was all by design. They are working on being able to absorb that right hand when it lands
