Originally posted by Mr.Daddy View PostDid I say that it was? No. What I did say is that Canelo has declared that 155 is the weight for a middleweight championship fight between him and GGG. That's five pounds below the middleweight limit. So far, the commission has not publicly stated that it will not allow Canelo to impose that weight limit (155) on the middleweight title fight. If the commission would declare that the limit for a middleweight title fight is 160, and that what Canelo said is meaningless, then it would not be allowing Canelo his fantasy. As the commission hasn't addressed Canelo's declaration concerning the weight for a middleweight fight against GGG, it is as if it has allowed Canelo to become the sanctioning body supplanting the commission itself.Last edited by icha; 10-26-2015, 07:40 PM.

Now for GGG he says he cant go higher than 155? Canelo is shook, thats it.
If those guys wouldnt mock the MW belt with that fight that would be acceptable, why is the belt on the line? Canelo is a middleweight, he is bigger than GGG at the 30 day weigh in and he is bigger on fight night, whats the problem?
I mean i like Canelo, but its probably Oscar who tells him these ****** things that make Canelo look like a clown, lets see what the real mexican fans have to say about this, and no i am not talking about biased fanboys like you, i mean fans of the sport of boxing.
I somehow understand Canelos team though, GGG is a beast and Canelo could seriously get hurt, punished and take a career shortening beatdown.

You could be right bro.
But if you are correct, then I wish that Team Golovkin would stop issuing false and/or inaccurate statements. Horribly misleading, not a good look for them.

What dont you understand ?
Canelo said..... " I have No interest in middleweight ".
Canelo will not be fighting middleweights, so he will not be fighting for the middleweight title, why would he?
IF Canelo beats Cotto he will vacate.
Right NOW, Canelo will fight Golovkin at 155.
So whats up with Golovkin, can he beat Canelo at 155 or what ?
Golovkin said he could do it ?

Let us step back and look at the big picture
First off, Cotto stated very plainly that should he win, he will not fight GGG in a title defense. Should he defeat Canelo, Canelo's stock will drop and Cotto could retire with a great inter-Latino victory. He is after all a future HOF'er. Win, lose, or draw, he will have the luxury of going out into retirement with his head held high.
Canelo on the other hand could win and score a "rivalry" victory for his fellow countrymen,......same goes for Cotto as well. Should he lose, his appeal to the mainstream boxing fan base will suffer and he will be open to all kinds of critisism for not defeating a "past his prime" veteran.
But let"s say hypothetically the Canelo wins this fight,....what next??? If he decides to defend his new title to the mandatory (GGG), he will insist on a catchweight that falls below the maximum weight limit for the middle weight division. If this is true, this course of action could be detrimental to his "star power" and future ppv revenues. By demanding a catch-weight, he is currently losing face with his fan base as well as the entire boxing community as a whole. Yes Canelo has youth on his side, but are there really a lot of worthy "big money" future foes in the immediate forecast??? That's debatable I guess. But chances are, GGG will stay his ground and refuse the catch-weight, Canelo will be stripped of the belt, and GGG will be granted the title anyways. GGG will have to fight another opponent to claim the belt out-right, but he will in all likelihood prevail. At this point Canelo is losing more ground and when and if the opportunity to fight GGG once again arises, his negotiating power at the contract table will have greatly diminished. Perhaps to the "B" side of the draw. In my opinion Canelo isn't doing himself any favors by tossing out the "catch-weight" insistence card.
Now let's look at GGG. Yes he has been put on the slow ride to fame, but his presence in the boxing world, as well as the casual boxing fan is an ever growing franchise. Like it or not, this is the current trend. Should GGG stand by his guns by not accepting the offer laid out by Canelo for the catch-weight, he will still be rewarded the title. It's a win-win for team Golovkin. Another thing people should realize is that Golovkin is only 33 years old, and I've read it repeatedly that GGG needs to take this offer for the "big payday" while he's young enough to get it,.....before he starts the downhill run to retirement. I don't see GGG taking up the rocking chair anytime soon, and I feel his best years are still ahead of him. Much like Mayweather, Hopkins, etc.....Gennady Golovkin's boxing career will have longevity as well. The Golovkin camp has plainly stated that they are out to clean up the middle weight division. And with that will come the Star power, boxing fame, and popularity of all including the casual fan. In the short term, this might not add up to a lot of dollars by refusing an immediate Canelo ppv bout, but in the long run, the GGG business strategy will pay plenty of dividends. Provided of course he continues to win. But once GGG is the Champion of the entire middle weight division, team Golovkin will be in the drivers seat and can dictate the terms of any future fights. And along with all the 'comers' to challenge for the title, sooner or later, Mr Alvarez will show up with his contention for a title and with little ground to stand on ( standing on the outside looking in),.....especially if he ducks out of a potential fight with GGG this next year. And it will be GGG's camp laying out the terms. Yes GGG wants big money ppv fights,...and what boxer doesn't,.....but if he can sweep the middle weight division, the money will be there,..... along with all the world class fame, popularity, a household name, and glory. Actually it is a pretty smart and shrewd business strategy in my opinion. All he has to do is keep winning his fights.
