  • Team Golovkin doesn't want the fight because it's high risk/low reward and DeCubas knows the fight can't happen because of politics so he is using GGG's name to pump up Lara.

What is there to argue about this anymore?

When a fan only saturates themselves into one hero, it becomes dogmatic, like a defense mechanism to assure themselves they are not wasting their time.

I did it growing up watching Jordan in Chicago and the championships. However, the Bulls did play against the best, and watched every game of their 72-10 season. So I know what it means to play the best. =P
I truly don't understand it. Simply because the legion of Pac fans wanted the Floyd fight. They demanded it for most part. Maybe the sheer domination and ease of Floyd handling Manny left them shell shocked. Maybe that's the reason why their new favorite fighter in ggg isn't being looked to even entertain certain fights. I really don't know, but I'm simply in awe of the fear that seems to showing from his fans.

And saying that GGG is being protected is ridiculous. The only two arguments against GGG right now is why he wont fight Ward at 168 or Cotto/Canelo at 155. Doing either would put Golovkin (a MW) at a disadvantage, and that's what his team (and his fans) are protecting him of.

The haters are coming up with any reason to see Golovkin lose (fighting Ward who's much heavier, draining himself to Canelo's CW or even saying that he should have been DQ'd in Lemieux fight). I'd love to see him fight Lara, if Lee/Cotto/Canelo are not available.
I'm not a ggg fan or hater. I'm not sipping his kool aid nor am I disregarding his talent However, at what point are his fans gonna take their blinders off and realize that Cotto/Canelo are going to squeeze every advantage our of him? Weight, location, maybe a rehydration clause, gloves, size ring etc etc?

Ward, isn't aligned with Haymon. Having a superfight with him shouldn't be difficult to make. I simply don't understand it? Especially at or around 168. A division that the Ward detractors say that Ward doesn't fight in anymore. Makes absolutely no sense

He has a fight lined up. After that see if Haymon is down to make an HBO fight or if they have other PBC plans.
It's already been stated Lara would fight on HBO, in Kazakhstan, at 160.

          Is this true? Link?

If true it should happen, Golovkin's handlers said they wanted to take a stay busy fight before Cotto/Alvarez, so, Lara would be a good choice, if it's true.

Yeah because saying so on twitter means its real. I'm sure if they offered Lara $500,000 to fight Golovkin on HBO in Kazakhastan they'd turn it down. But no one here knows one way or another until that actually happens. Lara has a fight against Jan Zaveck at the end of November, so let's see what happens with that and of course the whole Canelo/Cotto situation and go from there.

Disagree about high risk., I think Lara has zero chance of winning.

I firmly believe that both the fans and GGG's team understand that Cotto/Canelo will try to milk them for every advantage possible. GGG's team will continue to deny that they'll accept any CW until the negotiations begin. There's no chance in hell they'll publicly give in now , if they did, they'd give up a ton of ground in the negotiations. They'll end up either taking a 157 CW or 155 with a much bigger purse. It's simple negotiations, no different in boxing than when buying a car.

And Ward fight is much more difficult than you make it out to be. First, HBO told both Ward and Golovkin that they would need a long time to build up their fight (link here). Look at what's happening in Ward-Kov right now - they're planning that fight a year from now. Golovkin is not gonna wait around for Ward, he's been saying he wants to unify MW for 3+ years now.
Second, it's not a superfight. Ward's coming off a long layoff and was barely watched on free TV in his last fight. Even before all of the publicity, Golovkin's team has said that Ward's not popular, and he does nothing for him. (Link here)
Lastly, Ward at 168 is a bad proposition to him. Not only is it a very high risk/low reward fight for Golovkin, I personally think it's a lose-lose situation for him. If he loses, his career takes a step back, and he can't afford too many of those since he's already 33. If he wins, he cements his status as one of the best fighters in the world, and there would be no chance in hell that any big name (Cotto/Canelo) ever fights him. If you think it's bad that Canelo is asking for 155 now, can you imagine how bad it would be if Golovkin beat Ward at 168?
