  • There is only one way GGG vs Canelo happens at 160

Mayweather comes out of retirement, beats Canelo for the 160 belt. Retires, belt is vacated and given to GGG. Yes boxing has names, but GGG'S name is such that if he were the champ. He could call the shots against anyone not named mayweather or pacquiao. Canelo may be more popular but GGG is up there enough to call shots. The belt needs to go from Canelo, to mayweather, and then given to GGG

Depends how much Canelo actually cares about the belt and facing GGG. Which is feel is probably not very much. I'm not saying he's afraid to fight him, but i don't think he has any huge desire to fight him. Nor do i feel that he has a big need to have a 160 belt.

I don't think any belt has factors in these fights, they don't carry a lot of weight these days. Money speaks, not belts. I know he's fighting Cotto and the belt is on the line but that incidental and irrelevant, the real reason for the fight is because it's their big money maker right now.

But the guy said himself he's not ready for 160 which i think also means he no true desire to win belts and unify any divisions. I think he's happy cruising along at 157 or whatever right now, as long as he's getting good opponents and making money.

Canelo is too big for 154. He should be fighting at 160

If that were to happen and I was canelo,I'd tell Floyd 50 50 at the full 160. In a 20x20 ring ,take it or leave it.

Canelo isn't in any position to dictate terms to mayweather

Mayweather is only in this discussion to vacate the belt to GGG Upon getting to 50-0. The WBC Would give GGG Negotiating power over Canelo by giving GGG the belt

I know, but he refuses to accept it, like Cotto. But he knows he can make 157 or something and he knows he's the money man in pretty much every fight so he can drag a guy to 157 if he has to, and Cotto is the same, so it suits them both.

Canelo will not fight GGG at 160, even GGG had every single belt in the division. Canelo brings more money right now and that will be the bargaining tool to make GGG drop a few pounds, not a belt.

Cotto is perfect for 154. Not 160. But he can make 160

Maybe he could make it easier than Canelo, but has still been campaigning above 154 for a while now, so technically as a middleweight.

As long as he's fighting in the MW division and holding a belt, he should fight at the correct weight limits. If he doesn't want to then he should drop the belt or move back to 154. Catch-weights between guys technically in the same division is making a mockery of the sport, the weight classes, history and the belt in my opinion. If you want to be a LMW, be a proper one, if you want to be a MW, be a proper one. If you wan't to campaign at LMW but fight a MW, then come to an agreement about a catchweight, no problem. But if you're campaigning for 2 years within a division, don't try to catchweight other guys in that same division. It's not a good look.

That's my stance on it anyway.

Mayweather can't beat Canelo today at 160. It was a long time ago that Mayweather beat Canelo at a catchweight of 152. Things have changed. Mayweather is older and Canelo has improved. When Canelo fights Cotto the difference will show. He will be fighting a better Cotto than Mayweather fought and he will beat Cotto better than Mayweather did. Besides if Mayweather refused to fight Canelo at any weight above 152 back then, what makes you think he would fight him at 160 today????? Mayweather is very careful how he matches himself. There is no way in hell he would ever agree to fight Canelo at 160.

Mayweather would catchweight Canelo to 154.5

Canelo is too slow for mayweather. But he landed more punches on mayweather than pacquiao did.
