It absolutely amazes me that the clowns on this site come on this thread and blame GGG's poor PPV sales on Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquaio. The two biggest selling PPV stars in history are somehow responsible for a fight between a B-class wannabe and a C-class nobody flopping in PPV sales?

    Amazing!!!!!!!!

I love watching GGG fight but the higher jumped the gun on this. If they truly want GGG to be a PPV star he needs way more tv time. They need to get him on late night tv (ala pacquiao and jimmy kimmel). Get him involved with advertising and just flood the people with GGG. His issue is his name and where he comes from. Regular Americans don't know him and they need to put him front and center so they can see who he is. Because if they are just banking on putting him on HBO and expecting that will parlay into PPV status then they are wrong. They mainly need to step up the marketing 100 fold for GGG if they want him to be an American star.

I think he should also officially change his name to Triple G. Be creative with marketing him.

Remember when Lance Whitaker changed his name to Goofy Whitaker as a marketing ploy when he started making noise in the heavyweight division.
GGG will never be a PPV star, no matter how much they market him!

There are only three boxers in the history of PPV who have become PPV stars (not counting the pre-PPV closed circuit fighters). They are Mayweather, Pacquaio and Oscar De La Hoya. Everyone else is either a mid-leveler (Cotto, Felix Trinidad) or a wannabe (Canelo Alvarez and everyone else who has fought on PPV). That is not going to change anytime soon.

I never saw one commercial about the fight leading up to October 17th. so im not surprised.

Lemieux wasn't a big enough name to help golovkin carry a ppv.

          Agreed.

I hate it when people say "this fight can save boxing"

The only way it's shocking is if one never seen Lemieux fight, ever. What's shocking is that anyone bought that or maybe I'm going too far but I'd need a couple of my friends to chip in for me to order it, and that fight never interested any of my friends. No different than the PPV before this one, which I didn't order either.

Exactly, and rather than avoid such a scary situation many wanted to see this succeed which was weird as fuck. I'd buy a Golovkin fight against some of the names in and around his weight class, not freaking Lemieux.
