Taking a MW title and telling the number one the MW division that the only way he'd fight you Is If its a catchweight is a lot different to fighting Ward at 164.

If you hold a middleweight title you're a middleweight and If you don't want to be a middleweight vacate the belt or don't fight for it in the first place, problem solved the situations are entirely different its like GGG fighting the weakest champion in 168 and then going down to 161 and expecting Ward to meet him there for it to happen only difference is Golovkin doesn't have a SMW title, isn't fighting for a SMW title at a CW that and he offered half way oppose to 1+ lbs.

Ward isn't Winky. He is backed by HBO and Jay-Z.

Once GGG showed a willingness to go to 168 for the dough, that made unification not a big deal. Additionally, so many already think he is the best MW that unification is anti climatic.
All it would be is him beating a string of huge underdogs. No one will care.

Canelo NEVER has to come see him-when are you going to accept this.

Read the article Cliff posted regarding GGG. It's a good read.
Canelo cant hide at 155 forever. Assuming he beats Cotto and vacates, whats he gonna do? Fight catchweights at 155 until GGG retires? Sooner or later I believe he would want another 160 title.

What would amuse the heck out of me though would be if GGG accepts a catchweight and smashes Canelos face in. In theory the purist in me thinks GGG should stand firm at the 160 demand, but in real life the way boxing is today its probably better for him in the long run to take the deal (assuming of course he actually can make the weight)

I read Cliffs piece. Solid piece, although we do disagree on a few points......

Ward was never fighting anybody besides tune ups. His first fight in 2015 was a tune up, if he fights again this year it will be a tune up and his first fight in 2016 will be a tune up.
Anyone who thinks Ward is ready to fight anybody good before late 2016 is dumber than Ward is lol

Once Manny goes, Canelo is the cash cow. He can fight whoever he wants and everyone will fight him. Frankly, given the garbage from GGG and his team regarding "a side" etc I don't feel bad at all that Canelo is doing this to him.

GGG very well might beat Canelo at 155. It's either that or Ward.

the whole point I was trying to make to you was that GGG is stuck in the one place you NEVER want to be-the middle. This is why I maintain Ward @ 168 was better than Lemuiex @ 160 for another MW belt.

GGG needs to get out of the middle.

OK. That's just an excuse. If he would have fought Ward at 168 he could have been a multiple division champion simultaneously, imagine what that could have done for his legacy? Then GGG could have came back down to 160.

I said I don't agree with it, but team ggg were talking about they can drain ward and command more of the purse because theyre "A-side", after gennady's ppv flop they can't even talk about A-sides any more with anybody especially canelo or cotto.

And still team ggg is willing to make any 154 fighter come up to 160, and if not there would probably be some kind of catch weight I assume?

He can tell either man you will fight me at 160 or you will drop that belt, he can always do that, I'm all for a 157lbs catchweight that was offered to Geale but 155lbs is a joke.

And I answered your questions already, go look at them again NOW. You didnt predict that my predictions will be wrong, U stated as a fact which doesnt make any sense. I think you are wrong in predicting that my predictions will be 100% wrong.

asking a guy you're bigger than for a catchweight 1 lb above the divisional minimum = "i won't fight you under any circumstances"

the demand is so pointless everyone knows what it really means

next will come the lopsided financial offers and propsed venue in rural south texas
What is your data that Canelo lost 50% of his fan base? Canelo is the A-side and his terms must be met by GGG. Triple G needs Canelo, Canelo doesn't need GGG and that's the truth. To me GGG would lose credit because he said he would fight anyone from 154-168 and now he is backing out from his comments. Whether we like it or not, Cinnamon is still ranked as JMW and his fight with Cotto is as big, fighting for the tile or not, because they are both big names and the title is a perk. I'm sure everyone would watch the fight the same whether the 160 title is on the line or not.

We definitely agree that GGG is "stuck in the middle" (now I have the Reservoir Dogs scene with Michael Madsen in my head the rest of the day lol)

I still maintain though that waiting to see what happens with the Cotto-Canelo winner is worth waiting for. He can always go up and fight Ward later.....

                      Time will tell......
