so if golovkin is at a disadvantage at 155 then if floyd beats him at 154 you guys will use weight as an excuse right?
abel sanchez said anyone from 154-164 can get it. well what exactly is the problem then?
155 IS the middleweight division. this is not a duck move.
go down to 155, knock canelo out and you the man now, see how simple that is.

I got not problem with what Canelo is saying. And the reason I don't is because he is not holding the belt hostage and has been clear for years that he wanted to fight Cotto well before he got the 160 belt. He wants to add Cotto's scalp to his collection and really does not care about the belt Cotto holds. As long as he vacates it I'm cool. My beef with Cotto has been from day one he had no intentions of properly defending that belt and rather then vacate and fight whoever he wants at whatever catch weight he has been holding the belt hostage. He could of vacated a long time ago and the Canelo fight would still be huge. Honestly I hate the fact that the 160 belt is even on the line for their fight. As long as Canelo vacates the belt after he wins the fight he can fight whoever he wants at any catch weight and won't get a bad word from me. Now if he does like Cotto and starts holding it hostage and making guys come down to a catch weight for title fights then he deserves the same treatment Cotto has gotten.

You guys realize that the Cotto/Canelo winner can dump the WBC belt and they will still be the Lineal champ??
GGG and his team can front all they want, but they want the pay day, and whatever terms Cotto or Canelo dicate they will budge. Soon you will see how much is GGG about the belts.

Putting GGG on PPV backfired...they were thinking to be bigger attraction that they really are and either Cotto/Canelo will give them the B-side treatment but on steroids (155 take or leave)!!! Today, neither Cotto nor Canelo need GGG or the WBC middleweight belt. Cotto did at the moment he got it but not now!

GGG has not gotten those fights and it appears (given ODH saying 1-2 years and then this thread) that he will not get these fights. THis being the case, he has to take a different path.
GGG's path to stardom appears to go through Andre Ward and then going back to 160 whether he wins or loses, for a potential big money fight with Canelo (again you nor I think Cotto will fight him if he wins).
If he doesn't fight Ward, he will be in with Lee, heiland, Tureano Johnson level fighters. Those will not make you a star.
Unfortunately GGG may have to go the Hopkins route, and just unify and wait for a "name" guy to come up from 154. There really arent any "names" at 168, and going for Kov or Stevenson at 175 is probably a bridge too far. If he unifies 160 and maintains the titles, sooner or later Canelo will have to come see him......Last edited by OnePunch; 10-22-2015, 10:29 AM.

Fighting at 155 should be no prob for gennady according to himself.

Ward isn't Winky. He is backed by HBO and Jay-Z.
Once GGG showed a willingness to go to 168 for the dough, that made unification not a big deal. Additionally, so many already think he is the best MW that unification is anti climatic.
All it would be is him beating a string of huge underdogs. No one will care.
Canelo NEVER has to come see him-when are you going to accept this.
Read the article Cliff posted regarding GGG. It's a good read.
