There is a possibility that Gennady "GGG" Golovkin (34-0, 31KOs) could become the WBC middleweight champion by default.

Golovkin became the WBC's interim champion after stopping Marco Antonio Rubio last year in two rounds.

The win over Rubio made him the mandatory challenger to WBC middleweight champion Miguel Cotto.

i would hope so wbc needs to quit playing games with ggg granted they want the ggg vs canelo cotto winner to fight tho and that is their main goal. wbc seems to be only legit org left at least in last year or so. to bad they cant turn into the only title that matters

I'm really happy they finally found their b@lls but where was all this a few years ago when we needed it even more...I want to see more of this across all weight divisions. The business side of boxing is great for the fighters and their families but it's been so bad for the sport the last few years more than ever. Politics in boxing suck!

Kasim Ouma gave GGG trouble, so who knows how good GGG would have been back in the day. But, Kasim Ouma was better than Froyd even though he wasn't marketable. I don't care about GGG fighting these guys. He's just going to beat them up, and the WBC lost all credibility when they cancelled their contract with USADA after Floyd retired. Boxing just seems really fake.

Poor Lil G, once Canelo demolishes Cotto on the 21st next month the WBC will go back on their word and give him a volontary defense. Then after that fight Nelo will vacate the WBC middleweight belt there's not enough money for him to fight 3G right now. Nelo doesn't need 3G on his resume give it three yrs when Nelo is in his prime he'll fight 3G but not anytime sooner.

Lordy, Golovkin bragging that he doesn't need Ward, that he can pick on the 154lbers because he's a superstar. His ppv tanks and (as predicted) neither Canelo or Cotto will be there for him to make a payday off of. Sometimes the easy way just don't pay.
